“Most unsatisfactory stay”

In our experience, we found the owner to be rude and unprofessional. My husband and I booked a room for a one night stay, Sept. 9. The only reason we booked this very dated, marginally clean Motel was because it was the only one we could find in the area that accepts pets. At check-in I inquired if there had been any recent incidents of bed bugs, a prevalent problem in many motels/hotels regardless of "star" rating. The owner was offended by the question, declared they were a "clean" motel. The room and washroom were cramped, frumpy, dated and smelled of smoke. I checked the bed immediately, discovered that the box spring had a big hole in it. We were out most of the day, returned briefly for a shower and went out again until 8:30 pm. Upon our return, I inspected the bed again. This time I found a moving bug on the sheets. Having studied bed bugs and implementing protocols and applications in my own work place, I'm quite familiar with the pests. This one, though very small, appeared to me to be a bed bug. Even if it wasn't, close enough for me, there was no way we were staying. I asked the owner to come and have a look himself. He denied it was a bug at all, quickly squished it and stormed out of the room. I followed him back to the office, found him yelling to himself, in his mother tongue. I tried to have a reasonable conversation with him, which did not happen. I asked him to please stop yelling and suggested he might consider handling this situation more professionally. I informed him we would not be staying, asked if we could have at least partial refund, which he emphatically refused. There was no reasoning with this man. We packed up and left immediately.

“Rude owner”

This motel is under new management and I shall be very surprised if they do not go bankrupt. The rooms are old and small and the management (I think it is family run) is rude to say the least. I spoke to another person Whi said they had enquired about the price, been told $80, and then when they said they were going to check around were told that if they didn't take the room right then the price was going up to $100. When they did come back as there was nothing else with vacancies, they were told it was $110 !!!

This motel provides a very cramped space that is not the cleanest. There were 4 of us and we were provided with 2 very thin bath towels. Some renovations had been done to the bathroom. The pool in the picture is now a gravel pit. They wanted to charge us $20 more per night when we decided not to stay the the duration of time we booked even though they falsley advertised. Depends on what you expect but we were very disappointed. We were asked in the morning as we were leaving for the day if the room needed to be cleaned??? isn't that something that is routinely done or was I expecting to much for the beds to be made and enough clean towels to be put in the room.

The windows do not lock, room smells, service not reliable. They say pet friendly but they're not.

“A slightly over priced good nights sleep!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 August 2010 via mobile

Managed to negotiate the rate down to $79 but still felt if was over priced somewhat. On the edge of town, rooms are clean and had a good quietnights sleep. But the pool advertised on the website has been filled in and it is a reasonable walk to the lake. Good for the limited options avaliable!
