I've reviewed this property previously and expressed less than positive comments about it. Our reason for visiting was our annual 5 day golf trip. We stay at Rocky Crest strictly for convenience.
We know it's overpriced. We know the rooms need some serious updating. We know the deck chairs on the balconies are $5 Wal-Mart versions. We know the buildings give an impression of general disrepair. We know the food is very expensive.
Despite this.... the location is great and generally the staff are really good so it's a matter of not paying too much attention to the bad and focusing on the good.
Imagine our shock when we checked in and saw the brand new outdoor hot tub. Immediately after golfing we headed over to the hut tub and saw it was full of leaves....so we grabbed the skimmer and cleaned it out. We then hit the "ON" switch and much to our surprise there were no jets. The water was relatively warm so we decided to stay in and relax. A few minutes later one of the staff was trimming some small branches off a nearby tree using what appeared to be scissors (I'm not making this up) and we asked her if she knew why the hot tub wasn't working. She said she didn't know but she'd go notify the "maintenance guy". She left and we laughed amongst ourselves that the odds of the "maintenance guy" actually showing up were zero.
Sure enough about 15 minutes later she wandered by and asked if the maintenance guy" had shown up. We replied "no but thanks for trying."
To us it was more of a funny situation than a problem because our expectations are so low to begin with.
Because of the golf we'll keep coming back year after year but certainly not because of the resort itself.
it really does seem like the place could really be improved with some relatively minor upgrades/changes/repairs.
Case in point....the restaurant should be a showpiece with the great view of Lake Joe yet the layout and general atmosphere of it are maybe a little above a cafeteria. I'm sure an interior designer could come in and for a few grand give the whole dining room a completely different feel.

We went up on Thanksgiving weekend and loved the atmosphere of the resort. The rooms were quaint and the bathroom we found very clean. We found the food at the restaurants very pricy and not very tasty at all. The service by the breakfast staff in the lounge was very poor. Most of the time customers were chasing down the wait staff for a cup of coffee or extra cutlery and the lady seemed to be in charged was very rude, acting like we were bothersome asking to be seated.
The restaurant at the Rocky Crest Golf Course was also overpriced and the food not very tasty. We ordered appetizers and when the wrong order was brought to our table, the lady serving us made it seem like it was our fault and scolded us for not being clear in our order. When it was time to leave, we were told that the club cars back to the hotel were locked up for the night (9 pm) so we would have to walk back to the resort. Thankfully the weather wasn't too bad, so with my 5 month old baby and two retired parents, we walked back safely to our resort. Not the best experience overall.

Went there for a wedding - the wedding was fantastic! However, the quality of the rooms were way below the standard of what you should get for that price. They may have looked nice 10 years ago but our room had so many things wrong with it, in was inexcusable: the lamp in the living room was missing a lightbulb, the ipod dock in the bedroom did not work, the protective case around one of the plug sockets in the living room was hanging off the wall, they used black cocking to fix something in the washroom that was entirely white and had white cocking and the job was super sloppy as well.

There was lots of sports do to there if you had a family and wanted to putter around but again, it was super overpriced for the quality. Also only some of the staff cared about serving you in a friendly and timely manner.

If you are looking for a resort to go to as a couple I would go somewhere else and if you are looking to go on a family trip I would also go somewhere else - it is just too overpriced.

I was there with family this past month and I have never seen such a disaster of a resort. Yes at one time it was new and beautiful but now it is a total disaster. Staff are lovely but can only apologize so many times for filthy, scruffy rooms, terrible food, bad service, problems with keys and rooms, our room had only half the bulbs blown and pee on the floor, stained carpet, dirty fridge, smelly dishwasher.

It obvious this place is going downhill why is delta letting it?
