What an experience; from the time of my arrival until the time I left I was in my bathrobe with one exception "The Walk".

So...how did my day start. I arrived approximately 8:30 and was in the outdoor hot-tub by 8:45 a.m. What a way to start my day. I then changed for my walk around the grounds; the grounds are absolutely lovely. Yes, it is a hike so be pre-pared. You go up some hilly areas, but all worth the exercise. Our guide kept the humor, told us a story along the way and made it very enjoyable.

I returned to the resort to get ready for my facial; back in my bathrobe. My first facial experience. Very relaxing and peaceful -- would do it again in a second. From there, still in my bathrobe, I went to the eating area for my lunch. Not too worry, if you go solo, the resort respects your privacy and gives you a table alone. Awesome lunch by the way.

Next, I enjoyed the outdoor heated pool; it's all about lounging around waiting for your next "personal treatment". From their, I enjoyed afternoon "speciality" tea with a few healthy treats. And from there I went back to enjoy another out-door hot-tub and St. Anne's eucalyptus steam room -- WONDERFUL!

Next, I went down to the ladies locker room and enjoyed the whirlpool and dry sauna. I then showered and was ready for my hot-stone massage. This was my last experience of the day and it was to die for. I was a little unsettled about having a male give me a massage, but earlier in the day, my facial consultant helped me in getting over the fear and it was well worth it.

Honestly, I can't say enough about my experience. I would go again in a second. I have told all my friends and definitely intend to return. I was only their for the day and really regretted it. Next time, I will definitely go for overnight. It is expensive depending on what y ou are use to; however, WELL WORTH THE COST!

The staff at St. Anne's work very hard to make your experience first class and they absolutely succeed!

Everyone writes the same thing about Ste.Anne's... and after my stay, I must agree. Food was great, rooms were unique. Everything is very humble and comforting. Not "uppety" and pompous. (If you're this kind of person, then stay away and don't ruin it for the rest of us!) I had encountered a few ladies remarking about how if they complain, they'll get something for free. The thing is, yes you MAY BE compensated for a treatment that was unsatisfactory, but those people are just looking for drama. Do not treat the therapists with disrespect as they are the ones who are treating you. They are not your servants, and are very well trained and educated. Treat them with respect! I work in this type of industry, and don't take advantage of the "no tipping required" , because even though it's not mandatory, it's polite to show your apprecation for a job well done. Everyone working at Ste.Anne's is fabulous, kind and courteous to the best of their abilities! Some people may be having a bad day, but they do their best to not show it. Whe you go to the hairstylist, you tip her. When you go to a restaurant, you tip your server.... so why should it be any different when you go to a spa?

I won't rant anymore, but don't take advantage of these people, as they are who will make your stay delightful! Be kind and courteous, because that's how they treat you!

My Husband and I spent 3 magical nights at St Anne's Augiust 17-19th and we could not be happier!

When we first arrived we thought the expansive grounds and the old world charm was beautiful. The Inn itself was so well layout to be eclectic without being busy. Everything fit just right.

The staff were friendly and greeted us like friends and it felt comfortable. Ed gave us the 'grand tour' and took us to our Spa Cottage the Eagles Nest. He warned us the bathroom was going to be tiny and when we got to the room and into the bathroom- it was almost half the size of the room!

We spend two devine nights in the Eagle and then moved into the Haldimans East which was cozy country with it's own cute kitchenette.

We loved the food at every meal with the interesting specials and delicious menu- we knew the first day we were not going to go hungry. We already miss Afternoon Tea and my husband even drank several teas. This from a man who is a staunch coffee drinker.

We each had Aroma Massage and Shiatsu- both were wonderful. The Grotto and Eucalyptus Steam Room pulled us back every chance we could get. We had a special treat at Maison Sante where we met Carl Corcoran who was as pleasant and friendly as your own grandfather. He took the time to chat with us and he is a wonderful raconteur our of the history of Ste Anne's.

I don't know how we'll ever top this Anniversary but for sure -we have vowed to make Ste Anne's a mainstay of our getaway experiences in the future.

Hi there my name is Irene Wormald and I was introduced to Ste Annes many years ago by a dear friend(Kim) who knew I needed a quiet place to recharge after an unexpected illness. I was not too sure but she had talked or should I say raved about the spa for awhile, so I decided I would go with her. I did not regret that decision once and returned with her many times since then.
Again in a postion where I needed some recouperation time my husband generously sent my daughter and I this past month. Taylor got to see first hand what I had been talking about all these years and much to my husbands dismay he now has not 1 but 2 spa converts. A little concerned taking my 16 year old daughter I spoke to Sarah H and she guided me througjh treatment option for her and assured me that Taylor would be treated like the princess that her dad and I know she is.. Taylor was hooked after her first treatment (a hot stone massage which I also highly recommend) and now appreciates what I have been talking these past several years.
From the moment we were met at the train station until we were dropped off again 3 short days later it was an experience we both felt that we were the most important people there, every thing we needed we did not have to ask for it was there.
It is hard to say what we enjoyed more the treatments, food or the spectacular grounds. The staff are exceptional and extremely discreet. I only wish it were slightlu closer to home for me and that I could stay more often.
I have since being introduced to Ste Annes have introduced several of my friends who agree with my daughter and I that it is the place to go by yourself, with family or dear friends. It is a place that is unlike any place we have gone and that you truly get lost in the serenity of it all. We all come home changed for the better.
I highly recommend a stay and talk to the staff before going and discuss your treatments so you get what you need/want. They are there to help you .. Taylor and I will be back hopefully sooner rather than later.

The setting is beautiful with the inn overlooking lovely gardens and rolling hills. I was very impressed with how well maintained the gardens are as they are extensive and surely must be a labour of love. The walking trails are also well groomed and beautiful. In fact all the grounds are lovely and it was a pleasure spending time outdoors.

I also found all of the staff to be friendly, helpful and genuinely interested in making your stay as enjoyable as possible.

It is the inside of the inn, the spa treatments, the meals and the cottage I stayed in which resulted in my poor ranking. Although the inn is beautiful from the outside I found the furnishings, carpets and rooms to be old, worn and in need of a complete facelift. Rugs were threadbare, some dining and outside lounge chairs had rips in the fabric and the entire inn felt tired and certainly did not feel luxurious or spa like.

I also found the locker rooms run down and cheaply done. Walls, doors and trims were scuffed. It felt dingy and depressing. Walking to my treatment room in the basement felt like going into a dark underground maze.

The treatments are also very uneven. The registered massage therapists are excellent, are extensively trained and provide excellent massages. However I found my treatments to be very poor and I'm sure due to the therapists lack of formal training. This was particularly unfortunate as they are very expensive.

My other disappointment was my accommodation, it was very old and the bathroom particularly awful. A plastic shower enclosure and a cheap tub.

My last comment is about my dining experience. Although I found the food of good quality the meals were bland and uninspiring. Meals lacked flavour which was surprising when the gardens are full of fresh herbs. So much is made of the chef's qualifications on the website that I could not understand how the meals could be so lacking in taste and presentation.

Overall I found my stay to be very expensive and not reflective of the high cost. Ste Anne's has a beautiful setting but is very much lacking in luxury and quality.

Management response from Jim Corcoran, Owner
(Management representative)

Response: Thank you for the many compliments containted in this review. We all work hard to make Ste. Anne's a special place for our guests.

Review: "The setting is beautiful with the inn overlooking lovely gardens and rolling hills. I was very impressed with how well maintained the gardens are as they are extensive and surely must be a labour of love. The walking trails are also well groomed and beautiful. In fact all the grounds are lovely and it was a pleasure spending time outdoors. I also found all of the staff to be friendly, helpful and genuinely interested in making your stay as enjoyable as possible."

Reponse: We have just been re-inspected by AAA/CAA for the 15th consecutive year and have again been awarded the prestigious 4 Diamond Award. Our facility is in excellent condition. Many of the rooms and common areas are furnished with antiques and family heirlooms which may look worn to some, but are seen as well loved and full of memories by others.

Review: It is the inside of the inn, the spa treatments, the meals and the cottage I stayed in which resulted in my poor ranking.

Response: The locker rooms referred to were part of a $5 million addition in 2004. We have had more visitors this year than any year in our history, so yes there may be some scuffs on the walls and doors - these are addressed on a regular basis. The finishes are not cheaply done, it is anything but dingy and depressing.

Review: I also found the locker rooms run down and cheaply done. Walls, doors and trims were scuffed. It felt dingy and depressing. Walking to my treatment room in the basement felt like going into a dark underground maze.

Response: Treatments may have been uneven, this guest was compensated for any treatments that did not meet with her satisfaction, as is our normal practice. All staff have extensive professional training and do their best to provide a healing treatment to even the most difficult guests, but some have more experience and different strengths than others. Ongoing training will continue to improve staff capability.

Review: The treatments are also very uneven. The registered massage therapists are excellent, are extensively trained and provide excellent massages. However I found my treatments to be very poor and I'm sure due to the therapists lack of formal training. This was particularly unfortunate as they are very expensive.

Response: The accommodation in question is part of a renovated turn of the century school house, which also meets the AAA/CAA 4 diamond standard. All of the fixtures (including the tub and separate shower) and furnishings are of top quality and in an excellent state of repair. This guest stayed in one of our value priced spa cottages, slightly more rustic than our more expensive suites and superior rooms.

Review: My other disappointment was my accommodation, it was very old and the bathroom particularly awful. A plastic shower enclosure and a cheap tub.

Response: This feedback has been given to our team of chefs. Some people find our cuisine to be bland, but most love it. We cook with all natural ingredients, and are health/spa conscious in our approach. We also try to avoid ingredients that tend to cause allergic reactions in many people these days. Any dietary concerns brought to the attention of the culinary staff are addressed promptly and professionally.

Review: My last comment is about my dining experience. Although I found the food of good quality the meals were bland and uninspiring. Meals lacked flavour which was surprising when the gardens are full of fresh herbs. So much is made of the chef's qualifications on the website that I could not understand how the meals could be so lacking in taste and presentation.

Response: The cost for this stay was $273 per person per night for all meals, 4 diamond accommodation and several spa treatments, well below the average spend, and well below comparable experiences. Anyone who goes to spas of this calibre would realize that this guest received exceptionally good value.

Review: Overall I found my stay to be very expensive and not reflective of the high cost. Ste Anne's has a beautiful setting but is very much lacking in luxury and quality.
