“1st Mother & Daughter Getaway at Ste. Anne's Spa”
My cousins and I booked an overnight getaway with our moms to Ste. Anne's Spa, as a thank you for everything they do for us. I found a special posted on the travelzoo.ca website ($189/person for their "superior" accommodations, 3 course lunch, afternoon tea, 4 course dinner and breakfast, and for an additional $85, you can purchase a $100 credit towards spa services). A pretty good deal, considering that the normal cost is $475/person for double occupancy (savings of $101).
Lauralee had suggested we upgrade to the superior accommodations so that all 6 of us can stay at the Sentosa cottage, which consisted of 3 rooms (2 rooms with 2 queen beds, and 1 room with a king-sized bed). What a great recommendation! The cottage was lovely - all 3 rooms were spacious and had its own fireplace, sitting area and bathroom (with both shower and jetted tub). The rooms were on the main level, and downstairs was a kitchen, large dining table and family room, with a walkout to the cottage's own private hot tub. Since we reserved all 3 rooms, we had the whole cottage to ourselves!
Even though we enjoyed our getaway, I'm not entirely sure we would make this a spot that we would frequent:
-check in was only after 4 pm
-we arrived prior to noon, had a tour, had lunch, had our first spa treatment, had afternoon tea, had another spa treatment, checked into the cottage, then had dinner... it all felt quite regimented. For example, we were scheduled for afternoon tea from 4:00 to 4:30 pm, however, we were not served right away, so my mom and I had to quickly eat/drink to make it to our 4:45 pm spa treatment. There just wasn't a lot of time to RELAX... which is a bit of an oxymoron when you're going to spa.
-the food was so-so. I consider myself a foodie and while I enjoy food "quality", I think my mom and aunts enjoy the "quantity" of the food. Portions were a bit on the small side, however, you're able to order extra appetizers/entrees if you wish.
Overall, it was a good experience - friendly staff, beautiful surroundings, AMAZING scones, and most importantly, good company.
