“Find another place”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 October 2011

For the price we expected more. We stayed in a room that was in a strip behind the front of the motel. Outside appearances were shabby: indoor/outdoor carpeting that covered the step was moldy and placed over chipped and cracked cement steps. The place needs alot of TLC. When we opened the door it was freezing inside (October) and dark as a cave. We had to feel our way to a lamp. It would have been nice to have had the heat turned on at least. The room was clean and the bathroom as clean as it could be. There was black moldy looking stuff up along the outside of the tub. They shouldn't bother with "continental" breakfast because it was really a joke. I think we poured ourselves a cup(foam) of coffee and rushed out. Way overpriced!!!
On a positive side the front desk was friendly and helpful.

“Better than average”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 September 2011

This Econo Lodge is a bit more expensive than the average motel in this chain but is also better than average. The room looked nice and quite new. It had a coffee maker and -nice detail- 2 packs of cookies. Also had ceramic mugs for the coffee and various glasses to use in the room. It looked much better than some more expensive chains I have stayed at. I stayed at the front (road side), but I found the rooms in the back to be dimly lit. Maybe crime is not a big concern in the area, but it could be definitely better lit. The pool and fitness room are not very impressive. The breakfast (included in the price) was kind of okay but not too impressive either. The quality of the rooms still make this motel a good option for people passing through this area of Nova Scotia and looking for a comfortable and clean hotel room.

The staff is very friendly. The rooms are clean and the beds are comfortable. They also have connecting rooms. I would recommend this hotel.

“Good place to stop”

My father and I stayed here with our bulldog on our way up to the Cabot Trail. It isn't the ritz, it's a roadside motel. But everything was clean, the building was quiet at night, everything in the room worked and the rate was reasonable. Check in/out were hassle free and the staff were night. The continental breakfast was a bit lacking, but it was about what you would expect for a free breakfast at a budget motel. The WiFi connection was a bit weak though.

“Nice room close to Cabot Trail”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 September 2009

Spent two nights with a friend before and after the Cabot Trail. We had my dog with us he was welcomed. Rooms were clean, bright and had many amenities. Beds were comfortable. Hotel was a short drive to shopping (picking up batteries, etc., at local Shoppers Drug Mart.) Hotel staff extremely friendly. It seems that owners also own motel across the street and Econo Lodge clerk recommended the restaurant across the street. Food was outstanding - homemade, lots to eat and homemade fries were spectacular along with homemade pies.
