“Beautiful room at this B&B”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 August 2011

I have stayed in a few B&B's in Nova Scotia and this was the nicest room I have been in. A great size with sitting room and bathroom connected.
The breakfast was delicious: homemade blueberry pancakes with maple butter - yum!, bacon, eggs, toast.
The bed was super comfortable - we did not want to get up!
Very quiet stay with a great host- cannot remember his name.
I would definitely stay here again, the only drawbacks are there is no TV in the bedroom and you would not be able to walk into town.
Also, please be careful while driving on their road. During a 2km stretch we seen 2 cats, a rabbit and 3 racoons cross the street.

“We loved it, and we'll be back!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 August 2011

Three generations of my family recently took a trip to Canada, and, wanting to stay in Springhill, the town where my grandfather was born, we booked a four night stay at the Sugar Maple Bed & Breakfast. While the original purpose of our trip was to "discover our roots" - and we did plenty of that - one of the highlights of the trip for all of us was the time spent at Sugar Maple! Located a quick, scenic drive from downtown Springhill, surrounded by beautiful farmland, the rooms were spotless, and Linda McCormick was an incredibly friendly and helpful hostess. She provided us with lots of advice about what to see and do, and how to best get around the area, and her breakfasts, complete with local maple syrup and maple butter, were delicious! She also warmly welcomed my sister and niece, who were staying elsewhere, for afternoon tea several times, really going above and beyond what one would usually expect at a bed and breakfast. Another highlight of the trip was when her husband took us on a tour of the sugar camp next door - an unexpected treat.

I've stayed at quite a few B&Bs, and this was by far the best experience I've ever had at one. If you need a place to stay in Cumberland County where you'll be made to feel like a part of the family instead of just a guest, look no further than the Sugar Maple Bed & Breakfast!

“Have a Disability - Don't book.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 July 2011

I stayed for 4 nights, and they were horrible nights. I have a neck problem, and the beds weren't comfortable forcing me to have constant headaches that wouldn't go away. I've been home for 3 days, and I'm still recovering. I hardly had any sleep, couldn't get comfortable, and had constant headaches that never went away.

Nobody talked to me, no one bothered me, which I found quite disturbing since I've read reviews from here and they've raved on how nice these people are, well I hardly got a peep out of them the whole five days I was there.

I wouldn't be going back. If you have a disability and are picky on the kind of beds you sleep on, please don't sleep at a bed and breakfast. The beds will only agravate your disability.

Also if you're on a fixed income, you have to take into account that a cab will cost you $12.00 each way. There is no way you can easily walk into town. You're a good hour to 2 hours away from town.

And if you decide to stay in, you have to figure out what to eat, they won't feed you. If you're one who eats whenever like me, a set time for breakfast isn't exactly beneficial. They did feed me breakfast, but it felt rushed.

There were bugs in my room, and I spent the nights killing bugs. There were cobwebs on the chairs outside, so you couldn't sit on them, and you couldn't sit outside. You were either too hot or too cold, there was no medium.

No more Bed & Breakfasts for me, especially not this place.

I'm very sorry that you felt your experience with us was less than pleasant.
It is true that we are not within walking distance to town and as a Bed & Breakfast, we are not licensed to offer meals other than breakfast. We maintain the higest standard of cleanliness and many guests have specifically mentioned this to us.
We hope you feel better soon.

“GREAT PLACE TO STAY”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 September 2008

Warm genuine hospitality from Linda and Craig and their 2 sons. Beautiful large home on acres of surrounding fields. Bedrooms spacious and beautifully appointed. Breakfast delicious including home made jams, maple butter and pancakes! Easily access Halifax, Springhill (Anne Murray Centre) and some good local restaurants within easy reach.
Really recommend this B & B - certainly one of the best we have stayed in and we have been lucky enough to stay in B & B's in U.S., Europe, U.K. & Australia!

“Clean, spacious welcoming B&B experience”

We arrived late in the evening and Linda gave us a very warm welcome. Craig was away so we missed meeting him. Linda showed us to our room which was very spacious and clean. Linda & Craig and their 2 young, enthusiastic boys kindly share their home with the guests. It is a modern home set amidst wild-blueberry fields and dairy farmland. The guest rooms have private bathrooms, homemade soaps and slippers to take home with you. A very large common area has all the ammenities of home with high-speed internet, satellete TV, and a large selection of movies. This area also serves as the dining area for your home cooked breakfast. Linda offers a variety of entrees as well as fresh fruit and homemade cinnamon rolls. Laundry service is available for a small fee. This is a smoke-free home. We extend our thanks for a lovely stay and would stay again if we were in the area.
