We spent a peaceful two days at the lodge and enjoyed everything about the place. The opportunities for hiking, swimming etc were just right. The rooms were comfortable but we thought a little overpriced), especially in the off season. The dining room was very good (but not outstanding). This was our second stay at the Liscombe Lodge..

We stayed at the Liscombe Lodge in August.The staff were very friendly.We went on the pontoon boat tour with Chester as our guide.He is quite entertaining and a local who gives you a real feel for the area.Very laid back and rustic.The resort could use a little updating ,but that is part of the charm.Your rooms overlook the water.There are also cabins.The food is excellent-the lobster was delicious,and the breakfast buffet was plentiful.The Irish coffee was lovely.There was a library with rocking chairs,bicycles,motorless watersports-something for everyone.There was a pool,fitness centre and games cabin .It is very peaceful and pretty.We will go back.

This was the last night's stay of our 3 week tour of NS, PEI and New Brunswick and one of our favourites. We had a room on the first floor of the main lodge with its own deck overlooking the river.
The dinner was good and the server went out of her way to describe the dishes in more detail than appears on the menu. We had a window table so we could watch all the birds at the feeders just the other side of the glass. Likewise at breakfast time.
The room was slightly dated but clean and comfortable - it didn't bother us - we were more interested in the great view. Our time was limited but we managed to walk a short way along one of the several trails you can do from the hotel. We've already talked about going back for longer another time. One tip is that Highway 7 is a very beautiful route which I don't think NovaScotia.com have got round to marking up as a scenic route. If you are on your way back from Fort Louisbourg to Halifax Airport via Lipscombe (as we were) I recommend you include Highway 7 in your route plan. You will also pass Sherbrooke Village on the way. We only had 45 minutes for a very quick look round at the end of the day, but it looked like fun!

The Liscombe Lodge was most welcoming to us and provided everything we wanted in a hotel. The room was comfortable with a lovely view of the river and the restaurant served good food at areasonable price.
Whilst there we visited Sherbrooke Village which was excellent and also Port Bickerton Lighthouse which was a waste of a journey. It's not worth getting your camera out of the bag for.
