This B & B is next door to the Domaine de Grand Pre vinyards and winery, which includes
Le Caveau, a fine Restaurant. The B & B fronts part of the vinyard, so one walks from the B & B through the vinyard to the winery and restaurant. This property is also well located for exploring the region. The rooms are clean, breakfast well prepared, and there is pleasant outdoor seating with the vinyard as a backdrop for that before dinner drink. Our party consisted of two senior couples and we stayed two nights. I left my hearing aids behind and the owner mailed them to my home in the U.S. at no charge!

“Can't Wait to Return!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 November 2011

I surprised my husband with an overnight getaway to The Olde Lantern Inn and dinner at the neighboring Le Caveau Restaurant. It was a "Wow" experience all the way!

The Inn is charming and comfortable. We stayed in an upper floor room which had views of the winery and the bay. The room was a good size with post & beam construction and a cathedral ceiling. The beautiful four-poster bed was oh-so comfortable to sleep in. The room also had an electric fireplace and inviting wingback chairs where we enjoyed a glass of wine before dinner. The bathroom was nicely laid out and had a whirlpool tub & shower with bath amenities provided. In the morning, as the sun came up, the views of the winery and bay were beautiful!

The owner, Alan, was a wonderful host. He greeted us warmly, made sure the lanterns were lit for our walk next door to the restaurant, and cooked a delicious breakfast for us the next morning. Our only regret was that we could only stay the one night but we are definitely going to return for a longer stay so we can explore and enjoy the beautiful property.

We would not hesitate to recommend Olde Lantern Inn!

“Beautiful spot in the vineyards!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 October 2011

The room was just as the website described it - the bathroom was great - the ambience with the candle lit walk to Grand Pre was so beautiful.
If you want breakfast - it is served early 7:30 - 8:30 and be on time!

Room Tip: Choose the vineyard view on the first floor!

“Inn in a vineyard”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 October 2011

We stayed in the Vineyard room in this beautifully situated inn, adjacent to Grand Pre Vineyard. It had a candle lit walk through the vines to the vineyard, very atmospheric after dinner, especially as there was a bonfire to sit around outside the inn.
We had a large, air conditioned room with comfy bed and good seating (two easy chairs, one usual size the other suitable for two small people or one larger one!).
Breakfast was hearty and home cooked.
Do the wine tasting at the vineyard and if you wish to eat at there restaurant book a table ahead as they frequently full.

Room Tip: The vineyard room was large and comfortable and faced across the vineyard, away from the road.

“A Fabulous Find in Grand Pre”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 September 2011

My wife and I just returned from an 11 day tour of Nova Scotia that included a 2 night stay in the Olde Lantern Inn in Grand Pre. To say that the B&B exceeded our expectations would be an understatement.

The owner, Alan, had an easy way of interacting with his guests and allowed us as much space or contact as we desired. When we arrived we were both suffering the effects of a 24 hour bug that meant exploring the grounds (and the adjacent winery) would have to wait. We asked Alan for some ice for our ginger ale and let him know he wouldn't see much of us for a while. We secluded ourselves to our room for the first day but how bad could that be with a four poster bed, high ceilings with exposed beams and a private bath with a spa tub? Day 2 brought improved health so we explored the nearby college town of Wolfville (home of Acadia University and only 5 minutes away). Upon our return we walked from the B&B through the vineyard and purchased a couple bottles of wine to enjoy in the adirondack chairs in the back yard. Alan recognized our need to make up for lost time from day 1 and built a fire in the fire pit for us to better soak in the sunset. The breakfast he cooked for us the following morning was tremendous. I had the ham and cheese omelette while my wife had a gourmet french toast. Great coffee too!

We will definitely make a return visit to The Olde Lantern Inn when we get back up that way. Many thanks to Alan for making us feel at home.
