“Lovely B&B”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 September 2011

Run by the lovely Wayne and Frances, this B&B is situated on the water less than a half hour away from Baddeck and provided a great position to start our counter-clockwise tour of the Cabot Trail. As a seasoned B&B visitor, I understand the other reviews which have alluded to a certain rigidity (shoes must be removed at the door and slippers must be placed on a specific rack), as well as a sense of invading someone else's private residence (those in Rooms 1 & 2 have their own backyard entrance/exit, however you can't take the key). The helpful owners do make a concerted effort to enhance your visit to Cape Breton, as they try to get to know their guests and tell stories over breakfast. I'd recommend the B&B if you're looking to sit back, relax and get to know a lovely couple.

Room Tip: Rooms 1 & 2 are in the walk-out basement with a shared sitting room and veranda. These likely o...

“Great Stay at Luckenbooth!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 August 2010

Stayed 3 nights at Luckenbooth and was thoroughly impressed. Beautiful B&B with lovely hosts and great food! What more could you want? 3 rooms all with ensuite baths. Very nice common areas and a great patio looking to the water. This has become the standard place to stay in the area for our company. If rooms aren't available at Luckenbooth we will reschedule our trip!

“such nice owners”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 June 2006

This was the first time my husband and I have ever stayed at a B&B and we quickly learned it isn't for us. It just feels too much like staying in someone's home, which you are. BUT- for our first and probably only visit to a B&B- I'm so glad it was the Luckenbooth. What a stunning property, and such LOVELY people. The rooms are beautiful and meticulously taken care of. The hosts prepared a delicious breakfast and took the time to explain some local history. They were incredibly attentive and genuinely wanted to make our trip memorable. I highly recommend staying at the Luckenbooth if you are looking for a B&B that is special.

“Very Nice”

We stayed here for three nights - definitely get room 3. Much larger and not in a basement. Very modern Inn, built 7 years ago. Hosts very knowlegeable and helpful. Did not like having to put on bedroom slippers once entering the house. The basement had two bedrooms and a guest area with TV. Could have used an refrigerator with ice maker in that area.

“Clean But Rigid”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 August 2005

The Luckenbooth is a roomy and clean B&B with a partial view of St. Anne's Bay through a thick surrounding of trees. Included in your room rate is a full and delicious breakfast prepared by the owners. While this B&B is priced appropriately, a few things could be improved upon. The bedrooms are spacious but the furniture needs updating. The central common area is nicely appointed for a log-cabin style, but guests are discouraged from using all but a small one in the basement, which isn't as nice and contains the only television or phone for guest use. This B&B is located in a rural setting surrounded by thick woods, with the nearest neighbour about 1 km away. Consequently, going to dinner or enjoying the nightlife in Baddeck is a considerable drive (approximately 25 minutes) through unlit back roads and highway. Also, the atmosphere is somewhat strict, with many rules for guests to follow, and there is a certain rigitiy in the air that makes for a somewhat guarded stay. All in all, however, it is clean and priced appropriately. Three stars would be an appropriate rating for this B&B.
