The Artisan Inn is an lovely Inn situated in the quaint and charming village of Trinity. I highly recomend the Artisan Inn to anybody interested in seeing the majestic landscape of rural Newfoundland. Having stayed there one night the rooms were very well kept and nice. The restaurant offered amazing food with many local ingredients and a great atmosphere. The Artisan Inn is in a great location offering access to the Skerwink Trail and is close to the Bonavista Lighthouse. The service was excelent and the staff made you feel as if you were at home. In conclusion this charming Inn is an excelent place to stay if you wan't to experience the true genuality of Trinity and the surrounding area.

“Last minute find proved best memory in Trinity”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 December 2011

I was picking my friend up in Gander and was searching online for a place for us to stay that night in Trinity when I came across the website for the Artisan Inn.

It was off-season with limited accommodation available in Trinity and when I called, I was told that the only availability was the Barbour Place Studio Suite. It looked beautiful and with 2 of us sharing on top of an off-season discount, the price was right.

The lovely red building on the water is the Twine Loft where the downstairs restaurant and the upstairs lounge are located. Just behind that is the charming Barbour Place and the Studio Suite is downstairs. Spacious, well-appointed, cozy and clean. It has a full kitchen, a bedroom with a king size bed, a living/dining room with a pull out double sofa and a long table that can comfortably seat up to 8 people. Free WiFi is available.

Breakfast is included and they do serve dinner. Just let them know you will be joining and they'll make sure you have a spot. We started upstairs for a cocktail and met some of the other guests from some of the other properties - there are a few buildings under the Artisan umbrella. Very lovely spot.

The four course meal was gorgeous - started with soup then the main course, followed by salad and desert. I like European touch of eating the salad after the main. We shared the mains and they were both amazing - pistachio-coated halibut and pan-roasted duck both with potatoes/rice and veggies that were out of this world. Full bar is available.

Our hostess was wonderful, as were the rest of the staff, and it was so easy to stay an extra night as it was prime location for what we wanted to do in the Bonavista Peninsula area. We hiked the Skerwink Trail in the morning, visited Cape Bonavista Lighthouse in the afternoon, stopping along the way at the Two Whales cafe for a bite to eat, and still had the evening to enjoy dinner and relax.

One thing to note - Barbour Place is an older building and the suites above the studio have hardwood floors, so if you are a light sleeper, then you may hear people walking above you. It did not bother my friend and I at all - I felt like I was at home!

I felt spoiled while staying here and I would definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: The Barbour Place Studio Suite is fantastic. It has a full kitchen, a bedroom with a king size bed...

“Beyond Perfect!!”

A friend and I stayed at Campbell House for two nights in October. It could not have been a better weekend. Tineke and her staff were so welcoming and helpful - they helped us plot our sightseeing for the weekend and made sure we had a hot meal and a drink on the deck by the water when we returned. The food was delicious - the dinner was plentiful and the hot breakfast was a wonderful way to wake up.

We had Campbell House all to ourselves that weekend. It was a lovely cottage with a kitchen (which we never used - the allure of Tineke and her cooks was too great!) and a quaint living room. The upstairs had the bedrooms and bathrooms. It's a good thing neither of us are tall as the ceilings are quite low, and at 5 foot 4, I didn't have far to reach to touch the ceiling in the shower! However, I hear other houses have higher ceilings and it really didn't matter in our case. Campbell House was lovely and quaint and all of the different cottages and houses are all unique with their own personalities. It's wonderful to see how Tineke and her daughter have dedicated themselves to preserving the traditions of this lovely little town.

Trinity itself is definitely a place to see. We were there in off season, so we really got to soak in the quiet, peaceful, tranquil setting - Trinity completely removed us from our lives, and got all of the day-to-day chaos out of our heads.

This was certainly one of the best mini vacations I have ever had and it was due in very large part to Tineke and her staff at the Artisan Inn. Thank you for such a lovely stay!

“Lovely”

My husband and I stayed 3 nights in the Studio Suite at the Artisan Inn in mid September. What a treat! We fell in love with the town of Trinity with its beautifully coloured houses and its wonderful history. The Inn itself is very unique. We had a kitchen/living/dining area and a king size bed in a separate room. Very comfortable especially as we happened to be there when hurricane Maria was supposed to come through Trinity. We bought some food and wine and stayed put in our cozy retreat. Glad to say that Maria by-passed Trinity this time. We ate our continental breakfast which was included in our stay at the Twine Loft which is the Inn's dining room. We also had 2 dinners there and the food was absolutely some of the best we had on our entire trip through Newfoundland. The Loft has a lovely deck right on the water where we enjoyed a glass of wine. It also has a room upstairs which looks out over the water where you can enjoy a drink, read a book or just relax. Unfortunately the Newfoundland Traveller's Guide has mistakenly classified the Artisan Inn as a two and a half stars accommodation - a mistake that could not be rectified before the book went to print. Believe me this is a 4-5 star property. The Twine Loft Restaurant is a wonderful place to eat with a very upscale menu and delicious food not to mention an extensive wine list. As we were there for 3 nights we were able to explore Trinity and the surrounding area. We saw the Random Passage Film Set which was very interesting. We took in a play at the Rising Tide Theatre - which was great. We walked/hiked the Sherwink Trail which was amazing. As we were fortunate enough to be in Trinity when the Doors Open tour was on we visited many of its historical buildings. We loved our visit to Trinity and we especially liked staying at the Artisan Inn . The staff at the Inn and Twine Loft are so warm and friendly and Tineke Gow and her daughter Marieke are wonderful hosts.
