“Lovely owners, beautiful farm”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 September 2011

We stayed for a couple nights while cycling around Gabriola Island. The farm is right near the water, with a great place to watch the sunset just a few minutes walk up the road. The room we stayed in was very large, gracefully furnished, and with a very comfortable bed. All the rooms are in a seperate area of the house, and quite private. Arriving back in the evenings after a day of biking, it was nice to take a dip in the warm pool. Breakfasts were delicious, with lots of fresh fruit, and the owners were tremendously sweet and generous.
The only drawback is that their water supply is a bit sulphurous, so the water smells egg-y. They supply bottled water for you to drink, though.

“A very unique and hospitable place to stay!”

We stayed at this wonderful "working sheep farm" bed & breakfast with two other couples September 19-21. The 3 guest bedrooms are entirely separate from the owners part of this home with separate entrance, living room with fireplace and dining room. The 3 bedrooms consist of a very large king-bedroom with ensuite, a good size queen-bedroom with ensuite and smaller twin bedroom with private bathroom across the hall.

My husband & I decided to take the cozy twin bedroom and let our friends have the other larger rooms. The twin beds are extra long (my husband is 6 ft. 4 inches) and the mattresses are very comfortable.

Our hosts Janet and Paul Kuszyk made us feel so comfortable and at home. The breakfasts were hearty and delicious. They made dinner reservations for both nights at the two best restaurants on the island for our group.

There is a nice size heated swimming pool which we all enjoyed both days. The surrounding scenery of green pastures and grazing sheep is lovely and peaceful.

For such a small island there is plenty to see and do. A must visit is the Gabriola Landmark - The Malaspina Galleries, coastal rock carved by wind and wave action creating beautiful and intricate cavern colours, shapes and floors.

We would definitely stay here again.

“Unique experience,awesome hosts,spectacular property”

Our best memory of this past summer was our 4 day stay at Three Gates Farm - a speactacular property on about 30 acres of land with a view of the ocean. The entire rental portion of the house is tastefully and newly renovated. A spiral staircase welcomes you up to your room. You have a choice of a queen or 2 single beds. I believe this is the only B&B on Gabriola that offers the 2 single bed option. In addition to your room you have access to a dining room and family room with television,DVDs,CDs,stereo, fireplace and travel books. This space is separate from the owners living area. The entire place is spotless!
The hosts Janet and Paul were awesome, entertaining us with interesting stories and helping us plan our days activities. The breakfasts were superb-homemade chicken sausages with fresh eggs from the hens on the farm,English style lemon pancakes, and our favorite blueberry French toast. The sheep are fun to watch especially during feeding time and there are no roosters to awaken you in the morning!

Some recommendations for things to do on Gabriola:
- kayaking -best scenery is out of Silva bay-will see sea lions and bald eagles
-Raspberries Jazz Cafe-creative menu, great value for breakfast and lunch, and ocassional live concerts in the evening are not to be missed-in Folklife Village shopping Centre near the ferry docks
-best scenery-Drumbeg Provincal park on the south eastern tip of the island near Three Gates Farm

Staying at Three Gates Farm on Gabriola was a fabulous experience and we look forward to future visits.

“Wonderful time at Three Gates Farm”

If you are looking for a relaxing time, away from city life, Gabriola island and Three Gates farm is the place to go! We had such a pleasant 3 days over there just recently.
The farm is located near beach and right on the pastures of sheeps and goats.
Our room was big and very clean. Just remodeled. Big bed, huge closet, beaufitul bathroom and a view of water. Brekfast was traditional English.
The place is so quiet, you can only hear the sheeps. Janet and Paul were very accomodating and kind hosts. We really enjoyed heated pool while travelig with small kids. We wish we were heading back home so we could buy all frozen ducks and lamb they sell, but it was just a beggining of our vacation so we had to pass on it. Janet also sell some handmade yarn. We are very thankful them for such a nice visit and memories of Gabriola Island

“Fantastic, friendly, make sure you try the home made sausages!”

We stayed here for four nights with our three children. The owners, Paul and Janet, made us feel incredibly welcome throughout our stay, making sure that we had everything we needed for our baby.

The farm is a ten minute drive from the ferry port. The rooms are large and clean with really comfortable beds, and a view of the sea and Mudge Island. The breakfasts are brilliant.

The swimming pool is warm and clean, although we spent most of the time on the beach, kayaking, or exploring the rest of beautiful Gabriola Island.

Five minutes walk away is El Verano Drive, where you can walk along a wild stretch of beach, or hire Kayaks (from Bill at Casa Blanca) to get to all the tiny inlets and islands nearby.

It's a short drive or cycle to Silva Bay, the best restaurant in Gabriola.

We would highly recommend this B and B to families or couples.
