“Superb views from the hot tub”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 August 2008

We got to stay in this B & B by accident and as it turned out we stayed an extra night. At first we thought this area would be a little remote but when we got there it accured to us that the tranquil house and it ammenities where more then enough to relax. We woke up the next morning after a relaxing sleep in the Bombay room, looking out over the sea. It promised to be a beautiful day, we started of with a strawl along the beach, as it was low tide. You could see sea lions swimming just of the coast. After the walk it was time to sit down for the best breakfast ever! A real gourmet treat served by our hosts Agatha and Robert. We went for a trip to Denman and Hornby Islands, very nice. In the evening we had dinner in the nearest of teh local 'pubs': the FBI, had some Fanny Bay Oysters and enjoyed the rest of the evening.

After 2 nights and again a superb breakfast we were sorry we had to leave to continue our trip. If we ever get the chance to go back to Vancouver Island this would be our first stop and we would probably be staying even longer, since the place is a perfect base from wher you can explore most parts of the island.

“A LITTLE PIECE OF HEAVEN!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 July 2008

This is a must while staying on Vancouver Island. My husband and I stayed for 2 nights July 11-13. We loved every minute of our stay. The breakfasts are fabulous and the owners, Robert & Agathe, are great.

We walked the beach, read books, and enjoyed the other guests that were there. We had a great time in Fanny Bay goiing to all the little shops and enjoyed our meal at the Fanny Bay Inn (the locals call it the FBI).

The scenery is beautiful. The rooms excellent and the house is gorgeous. The gardens are wonderful and there is also a hot tub for those who like to do that.

We stayed in the Raphael room and the bathroom is as big as a bedroom with a soaking tub to relax in. SOOOO, if you get a chance to get to that area, don't miss this wonderful B&B.

“Ship's Point Inn, Fanny Bay, BC”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 July 2008

Add the Ship's Point Inn at Fanny Bay to your "Bucket List" (eg. places to visit before you "kick it").

My husband and I spent the weekend (July 11-13, 2008) at this fabulous place.

Everything about our stay was superlative ... no negatives, NONE.

The proprietors, Agathe and Robert, are the most down to earth, lovely people. The breakfasts prepared each morning (there were 8 of us one morning and 12 on another) were delicious and we had such fun with the other guests.

In fact, we had such a relaxing, fun time at breakfast , that on Saturday night we decided not to go out to dinner but to buy cheese, crackers, salami, wine, etc., etc. and sit on the balcony from 5:00 until sun set at approx. 8:30/9:00 .. with 4 of the other guests. Again, we couldn't have had more fun and the setting was so beautiful.

The rooms are all perfect ... we had the "Periwinkle". I managed to peek into 3 of the other rooms and each one was different and yet so well thought out and beautifully decorated.

I hadn't been to Vancouver Island since I was a kid and after this experience ... I wouldn't hesitate to head directly back to Fanny Bay and the Ship's Point Inn for another visit ... a longer visit. We did manage to get to Denman Island and Hornby Island but had we stayed longer we could have done Courtenay/Comox and environs.

“Can't imagine a better place to stay this side of the island”

Ships Point Inn is on the east coast of Vancouver Island, about 2 1/2 hours out of Victoria. This six-bedroom B & B occupies a prime bay-front location on Fanny Bay. The views of the bay and mountains are panoramic and the bay is just beyond the flowers and down the front lawn. You can walk along the bay, through the woods or along the quiet neighborhood road. The house is a treat with the country french, bay-side decor. Five rooms each have a small but full bath while one room has a fireplace as well as a large beautiful bath with soaking and/or jetted tub. All but one room have bay views. We chose the Bay View Room with its king bed and full bay view. Hot tub, garden, expansive decks with multiple tables and chairs are available for guests to use, as well as the living room. Proprietors Agathe and Robert recently bought the home, moving from Quebec. They are naturals for the bed and breakfast business and obviously enjoy their work and did everything to make our stay perfect. Breakfast was four-course and exceptional. If luxurious bedding, great views, amazing sunsets, gourmet breakfasts and extra treats suit you, you won't be disappointed in Ships Point Inn. Day trips to Campbell River, Denman and Hornby Island (along with several other options) are very convenient. We visited popular Painters Lodge in Campbell River on a day trip and were most pleasted to be staying at Ships Point Inn! We would return without hesitation.

The hospitality of the owners of the Ships Point Inn is wonderful. They went out of their way to make our 3 day stay very nice. From the gourmet breakfasts to our quiet ocean view surroundings we enjoyed watching eagles, blue herrons, kingfishers and ducks from the deck area. We met people from Oklahoma and Saskatchewan who were also staying there. There is also a hot tub for use, next to the wonderfully kept rose garden.

The Ships Point Inn is minutes from great golf at Pheasant Glen, Crown Isle and Morningstar and a great restaurant in nearby Courtenay called Tomato Tomato. Great steaks and deserts!. We enjoyed it all.

We'd recommend the Ships Point Inn if you like Bed and Breakfasts. We'll be back again. ---------
