We chose this motel because the reviews were OK, it was cheaper than the Sandman, and the Cariboo Lodge in Clinton, our first choice, was full. We did manage to stay at the lodge on our way home - see my review.
The owner had seen my request for a quiet room, and he gave us a room near the back of the property, which was nice, as I'm sure the ones near the front would hear truck noise from the highway.
Our room was small with one queen bed, but clean. There is a pool on site which we didn't use, but it looked fine. This motel appears to be the only motel in the area that has a pool; important to note if you are traveling with children.
There is no restaurant on site or free continental breakfast, and the dining choices in town are slim. We ended up eating at the greek restaurant attached to the Sandman Inn, and this was a good choice. It was very busy, which was not surprising considering the other options. The food was pretty good, although a little too salty for my taste.
There appears to be a nice, new looking motel in town with a Subway attached. I can't remember the name of it but it might be worth a try and a Subway is always handy.
It's a shame that Cache Creek does not have more going for it, and I wouldn't stay there again unless I had to.
