“Excellent value motel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 June 2011

We stayed here just as a stop off on the way from Quesnel from Vancouver. The staff were friendly and we were pleasantly surprised with our room. It was clean and spacious with all the amenities needed, including a good sized fridge. Our room was fairly near the front, however the road noise wasn't very noticeable. We didn't have time to try the outdoor pool, but I am sure it is very popular in summer.

On our initial journey north through Cache Creek, we stayed at the Sandman which was absolutely fine but, the Desert Motel would be my choice in the future.

“OK for a quick stop over”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 August 2010

We chose this motel because the reviews were OK, it was cheaper than the Sandman, and the Cariboo Lodge in Clinton, our first choice, was full. We did manage to stay at the lodge on our way home - see my review.
The owner had seen my request for a quiet room, and he gave us a room near the back of the property, which was nice, as I'm sure the ones near the front would hear truck noise from the highway.
Our room was small with one queen bed, but clean. There is a pool on site which we didn't use, but it looked fine. This motel appears to be the only motel in the area that has a pool; important to note if you are traveling with children.
There is no restaurant on site or free continental breakfast, and the dining choices in town are slim. We ended up eating at the greek restaurant attached to the Sandman Inn, and this was a good choice. It was very busy, which was not surprising considering the other options. The food was pretty good, although a little too salty for my taste.
There appears to be a nice, new looking motel in town with a Subway attached. I can't remember the name of it but it might be worth a try and a Subway is always handy.
It's a shame that Cache Creek does not have more going for it, and I wouldn't stay there again unless I had to.

“Clean & Good Value - No Frills”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 September 2009

No Frills. Well kept, heated pool which is nice in Cache Creek ! One of the better looking places, certainly. Many, many rooms - 1950's style drive in motel as they all seem to be in Cache Creek. I think only two have a pool. Desert Inn's pool is surround by fence off the highway relatively private. Desert Inn is built out of what we thought was solid cinder block and is very well kept and clean. We could not hear a thing of the highway or the neighbours, at all. Bonus consider how close to the highway everything is in Cache Creek. Very clean.

“Friendly owner/manager inexpensive, clean, quiet.”

I was stuck here with car trouble. If you have to stay in Cache Creek (which I wouldn't recommend) this was a decent place to stay. No frills, clean rooms, decent price.
