My brother and sister in law have raved about Ainsworth Hot Springs Resort and travel there from Northern Idaho several times a year. This July they took myself and my teenage son and the four of us shared a room. Admittedly it was a bit tight and more motel-like than resortish, but the room was spotless and adequate for an overnight. The views, the service, the hot springs and the dining were fantastic.
After an easy check in and quick change into bathing suits we made our way to the showers and then to the caves. This had been our first experience in BC as well as hot springs so it was all new and fun. We had a blast. To experience it all, we stayed in the very warm caves and after 10 minutes or so took a cold plunge, then moved into the larger pool. Folks with babies and young children should note that it is not a swimming pool - it is a soaking pool and meant to be relaxing. The lifeguard was quick to remind some folks there is no splashing or horseplay allowed. That was appreciated.
After a wonderful soak we went back to the room and made dinner reservations at the onsite restaurant. The four of us each had a different entree and each was excellent. The waitstaff were friendly and all together it was a great evening out.
Next morning we were first into the hot springs and by noon back on the road.
All in all it is a bit spendy, but so worth it. If you are looking for a high end spa, this is not the option for you, but for a wonderful relaxing time in comfortable surroundings with good food, this is the place.
