Years ago, I stayed at this place a couple of times for business and a conference. Then, it seemed like a great place!
Now, however, it's gotten quite run down and appears to cater to more redneck construction crews than it did before. For some unknown reason, one of the boys in some crew pounded on our door at about 10 past midnight. Of course we didn't answer (and our TV was already turned down because we were getting ready to go to sleep), but I stood by the door for a few minutes and listened to the commotion in the hallway--hoping that he wouldn't start banging again on our door. Thankfully, he didn't. All I heard was some lady talking with him about his hurt feelings, etc., and finally they quietened down.
Anyway, aside from that rather discomforting disturbance, I must also say that the room was extremely small, dirty, and dark. We were so relieved to check out of there the following morning. The restaurant was closing when we got there, so they told us to go order and eat in the bar area. The food wasn't bad, but they had the big screen TVs turned on the the Calgary Stampede rodeo highlight show--and I never gave a hoot about the stupid rodeo even when I lived in Calgary.
So, no, I would never recommend this once respectable place to anyone--except for maybe some beer swizzling redneck--because he'd be right at home there.
