We just returned from a trip to Drayton Valley to visit some friends. Because of my allergy to their cats it was necessary for us to find a hotel so that I could get some sleep and relief from the cats.
We stopped by the Black Gold Inn because we saw the familiar "Best Western" colours. We figured that we couldn't go wrong with them.
Our room was spacious and incredibly spotless! There was a really comfy king size bed, new TV, DVD player. I was quite impressed that everything looked so good as some Best Western hotels can get a little worn looking and that definitely was NOT the case here. We had a great sleep and were very happy with the room.
We were checking out when we saw them setting up for the buffet brunch so figured we would try it out. We could not believe the variety of food much less the quality! It was the best buffet that we have ever eaten at! Their Eggs Benedict were perfect, the bacon was totally cooked without being too crispy or crumbly, the scrambled eggs were fluffy and tasty. We kid you not! We wished that they had such a brunch setup in our home town.
When we paid out bill we told the woman how happy we were with the hotel and the incredible food. Turns out she was the chef! She took great pride in her food and it certainly showed because the place was packed with people waiting for a vacant table. We considered ourselves lucky to have been able to try it out ourselves.
Great hotel with great food. What more can you ask for at the edge of the great bush?
