I had to travel to Cold Lake for business with two colleagues and booked three rooms for one night. At around 1pm I found out that one colleague was not going to make it to Cold Lake so I needed to cancel his room. As I talked to the hotel and told them that one room was not going to be required they indicated to me that since I did not cancel the room by 4:00pm the day before that I would be charged for the room. I can understand this policy being in place when the hotel is at full capacity at a high season and when there is no chance that the room could be rented out for that night. When we arrived at the hotel and I was being charged for the third room, the clerk was not going to give me a key for the third room. As I explained to the clerk, if I am paying for a room that I am not staying in, there is no way in hell that I am leaving it available for you to re-rent. Upon checking into the rooms I looked closely at the bedding and am glad that the one colleague did not make it as the amount of hair on one of the bed in the sheets was alarming.
The hotel itself is recently renovated and the rooms are decent. There is a sawmill restaurant and lounge on site and a pool and hot tub. Parking is tight and there is no continental breakfast.

They are almost done the renovations but it is not very welcoming right now. It is very confusing on where to go, where to park and they are definelty having growing pains. I wish I would have stayed somewhere else this trip. To make things better upon check in, they said they would gibe me an upgraded room. When I entered the room, it wasn't finished being cleaned, so it was back down to the desk. Then then gave me an even more upgraded room. The restaurant isn't completed yet either. The staff was good but if you are expecting a great experience, I would wait a few months.

I was in Cold Lake on business and have picked the Cold Lake Inn because it is a Best Western. The stay I had was very comfortable and pleasant and I certainly received good value for my money. I liked the fact that I was able to choose from a wired or wireless connection. The room was very clean if not to say spotless. Although the hotel was almost full it was very quiet. It looks like the new addition currently under construction will be ready soon and peeking through a window I could see an attractive looking pool area. I didn't try the restaurant for breakfast but had dinner there once. The menu features standard pub food. Prices are again very reasonable and the meal was hot and tasty. A definite thumbs up for this place that I will use without hesitation on a future trip.

Our family was just there for winter games, they wouldn't let us check out on the saturday, made us pay for the extra night. They said at the front desk that had it been next week it would have been no problem but because it was winter games we were locked in. I heard from other guests they raised the rates to $240/night during winter games. The manager and owner wouldn't even come to the desk to work this out, they left their employees to deal with it. We travel tons for ringette and hockey and never have i heard of 72 hr cancellation policy. We weren't cancelling, we were checking out, we showed up. Not a good ambassador for Cold Lake in Winter Games. We personally will never go back there and never will we book any of our sporting teams with these guys. What a shame...bad business
