I was scheduled to stay here July 12-16 but was informed on June 29, 2011, that the hotel is closed indefinitely because of the massive flooding in Minot. The picture in the Minot Daily News on June 27 tells the story. It is unfortunate because the area is significantly short of hotel rooms. I've stayed at this one many times over the years. I hope that they will be able to re-open.

My first assigned "non-smoking" room had been smoked in everyday for at least the last 20 years. It also had a "view" of a cinderblock wall. When I complained to the front desk I was told that I was out of luck. It was only when a second attendent got involved that I was offered a handicapped room.

Based on reviews here, I planned to stay at the Holiday Inn Express for an overnight stop in Minot. Unfortunately, the Express was sold out so I opted to try this property. No concerns overall. Positives include large parking lot (free), easy check in (facilitated by being a member of their rewards program) and great beds. Comfortable, new higher quality linens and a choice of pillow firmness made for a great night's sleep! The room had a very noisy fridge (and a microwave) which we unplugged overnight.
Negatives: the entire hotel is situated around an indoor swimming pool so I can imagine it can get quite noisy on weekends. We had no troubles with this. Really the only downside is the cost. For less than the $125 it cost you can stay at the HI Express which includes breakfast (this did not).
Overall, families looking for a waterpark or business travellers who can write off the cost, this is a great room and a great bed. Otherwise, I'd try the Express first to save a buck or two!

Everytime my husband and I go to Minot this is the hotel we stay at. The service has always been great from all departments. We love the lobby bar and the dollar blackjack. The price is reasonable for the great and clean rooms!
