“A good effort that requires praising”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 September 2011

If you're travelling on your own and have no previous Bulgaria experience, finding the place can be a hard one. Even though the "Russian Hilton" type of architecture strikes you initially as a potentially risky experience, it proves being not quite like that. The rooms are big and solidly furnished, with a mixture of old and new, gold and crystal, digital and mahogany, finally heart touching.
Everything is impeccably clean and if you leave your pyjamas on the bed, you're in for a treat! You'll find them arranged in the most amazing shapes: birds, butterflies, etc.
A good experience overall. Oh, one more thing: the music on the hotel network is exquisitely chosen, at least for our taste.

Room Tip: Poolside rooms have a great view, higher the better. The opposite side overlooks an unfinished build...

“Very good experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 August 2011

I was at this hotel with my wife and we spent 3 beautiful days in this area.
The room was excellent, big and warm. i have to mention that you should choose a pool view room, otherwise you can have not a pleasant view experience (on the other side is a ruin, an unfinished building).
The pool is very nice and the spa facilities are excellent.

As a "small" minus is the English of hotel staff from spa area.

“Bugs and beauty”

Room was massive, beds were nice and big. Curtains did not really block out the light and I found a couple of bugs or more specifically maggots in chrysalis on the curtains. This does make me wonder about the cleanliness of the room and hotel! The red wine was kept in the very reasonably priced mini-bar but although I did not drink it, but took it out in case I did want to, I got charged for it. Service at the bar was very slow but again reasonably priced drinks and when service did arrive it was ok. Buffet lunches were pretty good, nice traditional salads. Swimming pool looked great though it was a bit cold to go in. The sea is 5min away and is superb! Besides the maggots it would have been great. I did hear the indoor swimming pool had floating phlegm in it from the manger who swam in the mornings and was seen coughing up "stuff". This was enough to put me off a swim. On the plus internet was included but this was through a cable (free) from the reception. The view out to the front of the hotel was not much to write home about but it was nice and quiet.

Room Tip: be paitient for service

“In desperate need of cleaning and refurbishment”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 November 2010

The hotel would be ok, but the rooms are DIRTY and need some repairing as well.
Towels, bed lining, and some of the furniture are extremely worn out.
The Spa is ok, but nothing special.

“Great Spa Hotel near beach and tree-lined walkways”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 September 2010

Good position near restaurants, shops, beach and parkland. Large rooms, excellent indoor and outdoor pools. Spa treatments excellent. I can recommend the tropical peel and exotic wrap especially for dry skin! The currency is leva which makes everything very reasonable. Only one other couple were British, another couple were Italian and a few German. The rest were Russians and Bulgarians attending conferences. Good choices at breakfast buffet but waiters very quick to clear your table if you leave it, even if you haven't finished!! They took our grapefruit juice and orange juice which we'd only just placed there. Although there is a restaurant in the hotel and a bar, not many used them when we were there so they lacked atmosphere, were more expensive and we preferred to choose all different restaurants scattered through the trees in the resort. A wonderful, peaceful holiday in one of the best parts of Bulgaria by flying with BA direct to Varna for three and a half hours and then 40 leva for a taxi.
