“Not goin back, no atmosphere”

Just returned from the Ritza, room was clean but small and on the front street facing a building site. If you want it quiet this the place, nothing much happens. Food was average, Sky bar is a claustrophobic room with one little door on to a roof ledge ,even the Rep suggested giving it a miss. Definitley will not be returning. This hotel needs some serious change in my opion to make into a holiday environment.

“best hol ever!”

My partner and stayed at the ritza hotel on our first stay in Bulgaria. We were very happy with the hotel as it was more secluded than the others and things like the pool were very private (hate bathing in a pool looking out onto the beach or road, horrible!) The food was great, i am a veggie and had no problem, had eggs and toast in the morning or some nice musli or fruit. The staff were very friendly and the rooms were very clean. Sometimes when we came up after they had cleaned it there would be little towel swans! When we got the hotel late after our flight they had prepared a platter of food for us. Little things like that made our visit intimate and enjoyable...You will love it if you want a relaxing break.

I thought this hotel was perfect. The owner (boss lady) was very nice. Staff couldnt do more for you. The rooms were always clean and were done daily. Seperate balconys well apart which i liked. Hoping to book the same room for next year, looks onto the front street.
We enjoyed our holiday very much.

“Good hotel, probably three stars”

I stayed in the Ritza for a week with my partner in July. We were allocated a room facing the road which was a little noisy, but they refused to change us to a room facing the pool or the sides (even after speaking the the manager!). The room was large and clean, with balconys (with only chairs, no table). The food was superb - huge breakfast choice and very tasty evening meals, with excellent and helpful waiter service.
The pool is fairly small and was very crowded by 10am every day (with no spare loungers) so we chose not to use it, and went to other hotel's instead (usually for a small charge). Plus there was a lovely beach only 10 min walk away!

“Hotel Ritza, St Konstantin, Varna, Bulgaria”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 September 2005

We stayed at the Ritza in Aug 2005 with three boys and mother in law and husband. Upon arrival they offered us the keys for three rooms in different areas of the hotel. Not impressed, the youngest lad is only 11yrs old. In fairness after a short but direct chat, they gave us two adjoining rooms.
The rooms were average but certainly not four star as they advertised. They were clean, the bathrooms were very nice and they were cleaned every day with the cleaners making pretty shapes with sheets and towels. Sheets were changed every couple of days which was excellent.
Food in the restaurant was very hit and miss. Breakfast was always good, a reasonable choice and always freshly cooked. Evening meals were generaly not very good. The choice was limited and the Bulgarians don't like to serve hot food, so it was generally lukewarm at best. The menu seemed more geared to the Germans and Russians even though most of the guests when we were there were English.
The pool seemed very nice if not very big when we first arrived. It didn't stink of chlorine, this was our downfall. It didn't stink of chlorine because they didn't use very much and as a result two of the boys ended up with ear infections which cost us £300 in medical bills. ( So glad I have insurance)
There is an indoor pool which is very cold and rarely used.
The 'fitness room' consists of a static bike and a cheap weights bench with 4 x 5kg weights.
If you are a gym nut like me, there is a reasonable set up in the Hotel Koral next door, which you can use for about £1.50 a session.
The staff were very good and very helpful. They only have a limited amount of English but they go out of their way to help you.
The hotel is situated at the top end of the resort and as a result is very quiet which we liked. It is not too far to walk to find the restaurants and the bars and the prices are very reasonable. For the seven of us a three course meal and drinks generally cost around £40. So if you don't fancy the hotel food you can always eat out cheaply.
In fairness to the hotel, it is a nice place, the food is OK and the staff are good. I would rate it as a reasonable to good three star, but not quite a four star.
