to start with, we were first brought to a wrong room.
we had booked a suite which was supposed to be the best they have, and they tried putting us in a little twin.
when we asked at the counter if the room really was what we had booked, they said yes.
we then asked if there was a bigger room, and that was yes too, so we went to have a look.
we liked the other room, so we asked if we could change the room there, and they said "well, but this is a suite, will you pay for it?"
well, yes sir.
thats what we booked.
so, we went down to the cashier desk again and got the keys where we were asked in a very harsh way if we had used anything in the first room we were brought to and that we would have to pay for the cleaning if we had.
i had gone to the toilet.
I told him that if he hadnt brought us to the wrong room in the first place, this wouldnt have happened so we couldnt be responsible for it.

the suite was quite nice. jacuzzi bath, double bed in cozy separate room, living room with tv which (i guess normal in Bulgaria) played porn.

there is a green indoor pool which i was sooo dissapointed to find, as one of the reasons we chose this place was because of the pool. so, there is a pool but not the pool that you would consider a pool.
you will go home with all kinds of disease if you swim in that...
though, im pretty sure you wouldnt because the green is not the color of water.
in fact, i could not see the water but on the surface of what must be a water there is like, mold or moss thickly growing...

so, we were about to hate this place till we got down the next morning to the breakfast buffet.
we were so impressed that the chef, despite it being a buffet, greets us all and comes around to explain a little about the food served that day.
the food was quite nice too, though popular things seemed to run out quite fast.

We stayed a week in a double room - which was two single beds pushed together. The beds weren't made - but we were given clean sheets and towels each day. The room was tidy - but basic - the bathrooms look like they have recently been refurbished though. Unfortunately the weather wasn't good whilst we were there - it was cold and wet (we won't blame the hotel for that!!), and the heating didn't work in the room. Also despite the hotel being half empty we were given a room overlooking the main road rather than the pool. The pool itself had been left uncleaned - I guess because it's the end of the season - so wasn't usable even on the nice days. There were a number of sunbeds around it though - and I'm sure its quite pleasant mid summer - though could be a little crowded i would think if the hotel was full. We didn't try the indoor pool but it did look clean - if a little small. The "fitness" equipment was one rather sad exercise bike and a weights bench on the edge of the indoor pool. The jacuzzi wasn't working - neither was the Sauna - both of which you had to pay extra for if you wanted to use them anyway. The "sky bar" is a small dark smoky room on the top floor with seeming no windows........we checked it out on arrival and decided not to return. The bar in the main resaturant only seemed to be open during the evening meal service. The breakfast was OK - but the choice was a bit limited - and if you want any of the cakes or pastries be sure to be there before 9am. Also dishes, and bread, etc kept running out and not being replaced unless you asked. Then the coffee machine broke down! The breakfast room is also quite small and we had to wait for a table - even in the quiet period. We had a late flight home and asked if we could keep our room on - we were told that we had to check out by 12noon - but they would store our bags. Fortnately it wasn't raining because public areas in the hotel are limited to the restaurant and the small reception - and we didn't fancy spending 6 hours plus hanging around there. To top things off we were presented with a bill for our accomodation on the last day - despite booking through an agent. We were told that the agent had only taken our credit card details as confirmation - and hadn't charged us - which turned out to be true. That in itself wasn't a problem, although it would have been nice to have been told in advance - the problem was that the hotel would only take cash!! After a bit of panicing - and no help at all from the hotel - we managed to withdraw enough cash from several cards from the cash point in the town - which was taken without so much as a thank you by reception. The resort itself is fine - in good weather - unfortunately in poor weather the choice of restaurant is limited as most are outside - but we did find some gems. The local food is good and cheap - as is the wine and beer. Activity is also limited in bad weather as everything is outside. The buses in to Varna are regular and cheap - also into Golden Sands - which is much more commercialised (and not to my taste at all). One big downside is that everyone smokes in Bulgaria - the hotels, the restaurants - everywhere. Overall I would happily return to St Constantine - though I might go earlier in the season as a lot of things had already shut down for the year. I wouldn't return to the Ritza hotel.

Just returned from two weeks holidays at the Hotel Ritza we were on a half board basis. The hotel in general was clean and the bedroom was spacious and contained everything you need. There was a nice swimming pool but facilities were poor and the sky bar on the top floor was very quiet and we only went in when the weather was poor.

However it was not a joy to come down to breakfast or dinner as the food was so awful. I think the eggs at breakfast were prepared the night before as they were like rubber. There was the usual cereals ham and cheese rolls etc which was fine. Dinner was not very appetizing same salad most nights, soup not very warm, chicken was the only thing most palatable most nights. The staff however were fine friendly and helpful, no complaints of any of the staff.

We were in Bulgaria last year in Sunny Beach and the same thing happened at The hotel Golbus. I think that in the future if we return to Bulgaria we will stay on a bed and breakfast basis as most of the restaurants have excellent meals and very reasonable.

Just returned from the Ritza, room was clean but small and on the front street facing a building site. If you want it quiet this the place, nothing much happens. Food was average, Sky bar is a claustrophobic room with one little door on to a roof ledge ,even the Rep suggested giving it a miss. Definitley will not be returning. This hotel needs some serious change in my opion to make into a holiday environment.
