We booked the 3-star Odessos in Varna. At first we thought it was a four-star hotel. It is well located with its back to the city and its front on an attractive pedestriam mall. The rooms are fine, and the lobby attractive. We found that the restaurant had pedestrian food, but live music, maybe because it ws Saturday night. Very old, American 40's, 50's, and 60's music sung in accented English was in favor that night.
But when we went to breakfasr the shock came for me. Breakfast was in the coffee shop, and there was no buffet. We were given a set of pictures and had to order from that. The choices of what was covered in the room price included juice OR coffee, with an extra cost if one wanted both. My friend eats a juice, toast, eggs, etc, breakfast, so she was OK, and paid extra for tea. But I eat juice, yogurt with fresh fruit, and coffee. This was Bulgaria, but no yogurt. I ordered the juice and cereal, because it had a banana. But the cereal was chocolate flavored and gross; the juice pallid, and the extra-priced coffee turned out to be espresso with no milk. I could not drink it, and there was no other coffee. So I felt very hungry and disenchanted. I would never want to go through that again.
