“rubbish hotel - amazing resort”

arrived early hours of the morning and the bell boys refused to leave without a tip. not really a good start especially seeing as though we were 4 young girls travelling on our own. bit of a bad start to the holiday really. the hotel itself is very shabby once you get past the nice entrance hall. The rooms are basic but cleaned everyday. The maid was the highlight and only friendly person at this hotel. She was absolutely nutty and couldn't speak a word of English but still made the effort and made us feel welcome. The reception staff were extremely rude and didnt have the time of day for you. Not enough sun loungers by the pool despite getting up at 7 in the morning. If you sunbathe in the back pool, you have to move round as the sun disappears. The hotel is in a great location however for the nightlife. Its a 5 min walk to the party square (best club by far is Den Glade Viking..... really good bar crawls with them) but you are far enough away for not to be noisy all night. 24 hour subway nearby really isnt 24 hours but stays open until 3ishhhh. eating out is really cheap and theres an amazing chinese near the Posieden Hotel on the main road. The castle next door to the hotel is also quite good for a snack.

Sunny beach is by far the best resort i have stayed at, I would just pick a slightly nicer hotel for the money you would pay to stay here. Its part of the Victoria Group of hotels and all the locals will tell you its the best of a bad bunch out of them all.

Dont let this review stop you going to sunny beach..... amazing resort and make sure you check out Den Glade Viking/The Happy Viking. I can guarantee that you will have the best night of your lives if your up for a laugh and a drink.

“1 Week Half Board”

I Stayed at the Chaika Beach Hotel for a week in September 2011 and was not impressed at all the dinning room had chipped cups, fortunately i had brought one with me incase there was beverages in the room because i like a coffee when i wake up in a morning. The bed was only changed once all week as was the towels, I had to get towels myself from the trolley if it was in the coridor. The food not not too brilliant either for a 4* hotel. The only thing good I can say about this hotel is it was a nice hotel, the room were very tastefully decorated, the location is good (right on the beach front) and local to the gift shops and bars. I certainly won't be staying there again this year if I go back to Bulgaria, I will choose a 5* hotel that I saw while out walking one day, it was absolutely gorgeous to look at, the only downside to this was it wasn't close to the shops.

Room Tip: Make sure when you book you ask for a room with a balcony if required because some don't have ba...

“TWO WEEK HOLIDAY ALL INCLUSIVE”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 October 2011

Just take a look at lzzy1989 they state the truth, a terrible dirty hotel, we are currently complaining to the Managing Director and getting no where fast, the hotel is dirty, the pools are dirty and are unfit to swim in see our photos, the bar and bar toilets are dirty, you have to wait for plastic glasses, chipped mugs knifes, forkes, etc etc, not what we call an all inclusive hotel, no brandy, whisky soft drinks kept running out, sandwiches and food left out, terrible hotel, we have been on holidays for 25 years and have never stayed in such a BAD hotel, all the comments made are correct. don't stay here its not worth it, you have been warned !!
We could go on and on, but lzzy189 comments say it all This holiday was not as described in the brochure and certainly not worth the money.

“great hotel!! dont listen to these boring moaning idiots..”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 October 2011

moan moan moan moan moan, thats all people seem to do on this nite. if you have booked the chaika hotel already and your looking on here before you go then why are you checking reviews after you've booked your holiday!! thats stupid. if you havnt booked a hotel yet then well done your one step ahead of the rest of the dumb population. i travelled to Chaika hotel in late august (season) transfer was smooth. on arrival we were greeted with open arms by the pleasent reception staff and shown straight to our rooms. and oh yes we did arrive at 4am in the morning but that was our choice when booking, and we were told this when booking (that only night flights were available to Bulgaria). The hotel was in a great location. Welcome meeting in the morning explained all we needed to know about the hotel and local areas. As we paid very little for this holiday £350 p/p on All Inclusive which works out at £50 per day including food, drinks, room AND flights you just cant complain. The food was varied and there was plenty to choose from with a menu that changed every day. As it caters for international guests I dont think the British should expect British fry ups etc because its a completely different culture and Bulgarian style cuisine is going to be served in these hotels. Also when people say its cold, its not cold its just not as hot as we are used to in the UK. This is because Bulgarians like to eat their food at a lower temperature. There was also snacks available in the Irish bar between lunch and dinner consisiting of pizza and sandwiches. Now to mention the Irish bar. i dont know if other guests were expecting lots of green decoration and lepricawns to be jumping out from under the seats but it does what it says on the tin and serves drinks throughout the day up until 11pm. Facilities not included in the All Inclusive option are Mistic bar (a beautiful cocktail bar down by the promenade), Castle pizzaria (castle building with a great menu on offer) and main building lobby bar. This is what we expected as it does not come under the All Inclusive option in the brochure. There was a lovely beach bar on the sand called the Easy Bar which is included where sipped cocktails and relaxed for many days. Sometimes sun beds were not available but this is to be expected in peak season so get over it. Room was very spacious and clean. Now our towels and sheets wernt changed every day but would we expect that at home?? NO. they were changed enough times during our stay. And staff. All people seem to put in their reviews is about the rude and ignorent unhelpful staff. This is not the case. They are very friendly and helped with anything i asked. Sometimes the locals dont understand our the accent so speak slow and they will be fine. We, unlike alot of people, knew we had to check out at 12 noon on the last day. This is standard when you book a holiday with night flights. However thinking ahead me and my friend booked an extra night with our travel agent to avoid waiting around winging and complaining to other guests the whole of the last day that we would have to wait 12 hours before our coach turned up to collect us. This seemed to be a popular thing to do. Also a popular thing was to complain to the rep. Our rep was is the hotel almost every day and there was usually a huge queue of miserable moaning british giving him what for. When we spoke to him he was always friendly and sent us on some great excursions throughout our stay. So on the whole maybe Bulgaria is not for everyone. But if your looking for a cheap, getaway in the sun with great local restaurants, bars and entertainment and a very nice hotel book the Chaika because its ina prime location and a lovely place to sleep. Finally a note to all the bad and nasty reviews about the hotel. GET OVER IT. YOU PAID HARDLY ANYTHING. WHAT DO YOU EXPECT??

“Not as advertised & sold”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 October 2011

people found this review helpful

Me & my boyfriend stayed at the Chaika beach from 12th Sept unitl the 24th Sept 2011. When we arrived at 4am in the morning we had to queue for nearly a hour as there was only one person on reception checking guests in (bearing in mind two coaches had dropped people off, must have been about 60+ people checking in). Once we had finally been checked in and given our room key we were told to wait and a bell boy would show us to our room (would have been impossible to find our own room as there are two buildings). Again we had to wait around 30mins for the bell boy, and when we were finally showed to our room the bell boy refused to leave the room without a tip. Bearing in mind we had just got inot the country, we only had large notes and no change. We ended up giving him a one pound coin as that was all we had and then he still wasn't happy with that. He eventually did leave the room. Very very cheeky, and according to our rep this is not the bulgarian way!

Hotel food was awful, out of 32 meals that we could have eaten at the hotel we ate 7. The food was cold, not cooked properly (chicken was pink in the middle), it was the same food everyday, the occassional variation! Whenever we did eat in the hotel i became ill. The pizzeria that is advertised in the thomas cook brochure is now not part of the hotel, it is privately owned hence you havew to pay for meals. Very good job we took lots of spending money or we would have been quite stuck and hungry! Restaurants and bars very close by the the hotel, possibly the only good thing about the hotel is the central location.

No entertainment at the hotel, well bingo three times a week in the irish bar but this only lasted about 30mins. Yet agaiun good job the hotel was close by to bars for some entertainment. The mystic bar and beach bar are not part of the all inclusive package, even though the brochure states they are included in the AI.

Our room was awful, the bath leaked all over the bathroom floor each time we had a shower. We had to hold the shower head when having a shower as the attatchment to the wall was broken off. Our air conditioning did not seem to work, it was set to warm and could not be changed to cold. And to add to this our room was above the laundry, so our room was boiling hot all the time. Our view from our balcony consisted of a gruby car park, next doors pool and the back of macdonalds (including their bins). I do not know why they were putting quests into these rooms as the hotel was nowhere near full, and coincidently our next door neaighbours were two of the irish bar staff. This made us feel great as you can imagine, the staff are never put in the best rooms and there we were in a room next door to them. Also there was a microwave and bits of cutelry in our room, and after speaking with our other next door neighbours they told us they were half board, so we now know we were put into a half board/self catering room. There was no sofa/chair to sit in front of the dresser, i had to bring in a plastic chair from the balcony to get ready in the evenings. There were nails sticking out of the bed and out of cuboards, very dangerous.

We stayed at the Chaika Beach for 12 days, in all that time our towels were changed twice and the bedding once. I amnot a clean freak but that is quate unhygenic. We tried leaving the towels in piles on the floor to get the maids to change them, but we would come back to the room and find them folded back up and put on the beds. Also the stairs that were at the side of our room (next to the bar staffs room) had industrial bins underneath, not very nice in hot weather. But despite this we came back to our room a number of times to find black bin liners left outside and not taken down to the bins.

Really not impressed with the hotel or its service, we feel very let down. We made the most of a bad situation though and enjoyed our holiday outside of the hotel. At the time of booking i was a final year student nurse so i was spending mine and my boyfriends hard earned money on what we were told would be a brilliant holiday. I will definitely not be going back to this hotel and would warn others not to book.
