“Not as bad as we thought it would be”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 July 2009

We had read some reviews on the hotel panorama and wondered what on earth we had let ourselves in for. When we arrived, the hotel appeared clean and tidy but very basic, definately not 3 star material.
The rooms were clean and cleaned every day with fresh linen and towels.
The worst thing about this hotel was the food it was horrendous, I dont know how anyone could eat there, we felt the hotel would probably do better as self catering if they set it up properly.
We ate out every day for late breakfast/lunch and for our evening meal and it was so cheap and the food was decent also.
Would not go back to this hotel again, but it definately not as bad as we thought it was going to be.

“better than expected”

having read other reviews,me and my family wasnt looking forward to this holiday.arriving on the 16 aug for a two week stay ,we were took to our hotel by a rep working for albena,he said not one of the best hotels so that made you a bit wary.when arriving we were taken to our room by a porter, we got an apartment style room which was very large and clean.pool very large, clean and with plenty of sunbeds.the reps talk didnt really tell you about the hotel, had to find out ourselves that we could use snack bar and pool bar at hotel compass.food in restaurant was very boring after a week, serving the same food for dinner and tea. breakfast food not up to much(resorting to crisp sandwiches the second week).not really much entertainment in the evening but they did their best with dance songs that every nationality knows .all in all not a bad holidey for the price we paid, and the kids enjoyed it.

“All inclusive let down”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 August 2008

We arrived, allocation on arrival with some reservation after reading previous reviews of some of the hotels in Albena.
The rep dropped us off at the hotel and we were met by a porter to take our cases. Reception were friendly and quickly allocated our room and the porter scurried off with our cases with us following. Our room was on the top floor up four flights of stairs, there are no lifts which could cause problems for some guests. Also to get to the main resort area there are many steep steps although there are regular trains costing around a pound each which we found very useful and a great ride. Our room was very clean and the bathroom also clean and the shower was spacious and effective. The cleaning staff were fantastic and always left a suprise design out of the towels on the bed each day.
Our rep was useless and was only concerned of getting people on the trips and spoke only broken English. As we were only there for a week we could not go on the water park trip so we asked if we could easily get there ourselves. She said she didnt know and didnt offer any assistance. We found later in the week on passing the bus station there were regular buses to the water park in Golden Sands. I would recommend you do this as it saved around £15 from the price of the reps trip.
The hotel had no entertainment which we found very dissapointing as we were all inclusive and didnt plan on going out each night. We couldnt even stay in the main bar area and chat because of the constant clattering of an ice hockey machine which reverberated through the canteen like foyer bar. There was very little atmosphere to make you want to stay in the hotel and the selection and quality of drinks on offer was very poor. We went out every night and had to increase our weekly spends dramatically to compensate. The prices are no longer as cheap as we were informed of by previous holiday makers to this area.
The food in the hotel was just about managable although stodgy rice and mash and sausage and burgers was vertually the full range for the week. The salad was ok and the fruit and bread rolls were nice but it was all too repetative and we found ourselves eating out on a number of occasions.
The pool in the hotel was beautiful and very well looked after although shared with the hotel compass we didnt have a problem finding sunbeds. It is quite deep and a large pool and very refreshing on hot days. We were not told by our rep and only found out on the last day we could take mid day snacks from the hotel compass poolside bar, we went without all week.
We went on the yacht picnic which we loved, a very pleasant relaxing day out on a yacht which take you to a secluded beach with a barbercue and free drinks. Be warned we were given a pick up time of 09.30am and the coach didnt arrive until 10.20am apparantly all the hotels are given the same pick uptime, there were five pickups before us, how can they be everywhere at the same time? We knew of at least one family who missed the trip because they gave up waiting after 1 hour thinking they had missed the coach.
We would definetely go to Albena again but would pre book our hotel first and not rely on allocation on arrival. Hotel Panarama could be a good hotel if it concentrated on giving value to the all inclusive package which it lacked so badly.

“Not great for the solo traveller”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 August 2007

Hotel was very clean, rooms and towels cleaned and changed daily. Pool and restaurant is shared with neighbouring hotel (Kompass). No directions to the restaurant - just follow the mass with the green wrist bands! Did not locate the evening entertainment but was advised that it was not great! Not very accommodating for the solo traveller - smallest table size in restaurant is for 4! Staff freiendly but did not speak much english. Not very many english speaking people stayed at the hotel.
