“very enjoyable holiday”

this was our first time in albena as normally we went to sunny beach, and this was a total contrast. We were a bit nervous about the hotel and the area but we needn't have worried as the hotel was very clean. The bedroom was basic with old furniture but was cleaned every day and had plenty of room with a lovely sea view. They have taken the fridges out which you can hire but they have replaced these with air con which is much better. The breakfast was in the hotel's resteraunt next door and they was always plenty of choice. The staff were always helpful and very friendly and on a night they was a duo playing from 7.30. The resort is more expensive to eat and drink but the food was very nice, we would recommend the tex mex and the italian. It is ideal for families with small children as it is a very safe area as you could walk about after dark and weren't worried and we never heard of any trouble, also there is no loud music after midnight, it all goes very quiet then. We would go back and although there is nicer hotels we would go back to the amelia as we had no complaints and other people we spoke to from better hotels didn't enjoy they stay as staff weren't very nice.

Room Tip: we were on the 7th floor which had the best view and no noise from other rooms

“Central location & friendly staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 July 2011

My stay at the Amelia was very enjoyable, the staff were very helpful and friendly.
The bedroom wasn't very large but was more than adequate, good sized bathroom and wardrobe. The aircon was efficient and quiet, room was serviced daily and the public areas
were spotless. The view of the beach from the balcony was mainly obscured by trees
(and I was on the 5th floor)the rooms not above reception had a better view.
I stayed on a B&B basis, meals were taken in the Amelia restaurant next door,it is modern and a good size with two outdoor dining areas, the food was good, plenty of choice of hot and cold and an excellent selection of fresh fruit.
The resort was a bit on the expensive side compared to other Bulgarian resorts
that I have visited, half chicken chips and salad 15 to 18 Lev (Sunny beach from 6.50 Lev)
exchange rates all outlets the same 2.03Lev to the £, in the next resort Kranevo I got 2.15
I would recomend a walk to Kranevo plenty of much cheaper bar/restaurants ie my fave half chicken meal with chips and a superb salad only 8 Lev,at the Golden Chicken.
Beware that on the walk to Kranevo you pass a nudist beach.

“Lovely Holiday on the cheap”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 July 2011

Hotel Amelia was a great holiday, we were bed and breakfast and wished we had booked half board. when we first arrived and saw the hotel bedroom door we have other ideas. But once in side room it was a good shock. Large bathroom plenty of wardrobe space and hangers then through a door in to bedroom, large twin beds plenty of space but no fridge, that was extra. Air conditioning was free and the doors on to the balcony were a suprise. Open the door and there was a second door with insect protection so on a hot night you could leave the first door open and get plenty of fresh air.
Out side our window was a large tree, but it did not spoil the view, we could still see the sea. No pool but just down the road was a private part of the beach, If you want to sit next to the sea get down very early.

Breakfast was in part of the next door hotel, and if you were down at 7 30 and managed to get there before most of the Germans Russians and others there was plenty of eggs bacon beans and bread, and fruit. The others would take a carrierbag and fill it with all sorts of ffried eggs and bacon to eat later in the day. I saw them fill their bags with fruit by the bowl full.

The beach was clean and plenty of room, no soft beds though only hard plastic ones, but you cannot have everthing. If you walked just out side the area you could find plenty of bars and cafes to eat at a good price. We found two bars one with no food or toilet but the drink was less than half price and walking the other way beer still cheaper but did cheap food (Not a lot of choice but freshly cooked) One one occasion they did not have chicken soup but that night there was a fresh batch cooked for me and it was a meal in its self. Yes this is the place if you have nothing to do and all day to do it in. We will go back hopefully next year.

“Fab friendly clean hotel close to beautiful sandy beach”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 September 2009

My husband and I along with our 2 children aged 2 and 6 stayed at hotel Druzba in Albena. The hotel was just what we wanted - not too expensive but very close to the beach . Our room was lovely and clean ( cleaners on the go all day and very friendly too ! ) lovely safe balcony with sea view . The bar downstairs did great food and had a good band in the evening for people and kids to dance along to. The hotel doesnt have its own swimming pool but there are loads nearby which we could use but we spent most time down the beach !!

Albena resort is perfect for families. The beaches are sandy and clean and not overcrowded like spain etc . Its a childrens paradise for entertainment - bungee , bouncy castles , bouncy slides , bumper cars , mini golf and loads of other things too.

We had a great holiday and are looking forward to going back next year !!!
