“Perfect New Year's Venue”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2012

We love a 60s band called The Tams, and when we found out they were playing at this hotel's ballroom for NYE, we booked it.

What a great deal! For $295 (plus taxes and $12 for parking) we had a very nice suite (it's a lower-end Hilton property, though, so don't expect top luxury) an incredibly delicious buffet dinner meal with top-quality and well-prepared foods, and open bar (yes, truly open all night long) and fabulous entertainment in an excellent venue with a large dance floor. ALSO included was a delicious, made-to-order breakfast which was the best "complimentary" breakfast we have ever had in a hotel, by far.

The suite had a nice large, full kitchen, though we didn't use it, and we really liked the updated, upscale bathroom, very large with nice amenities and big white fluffy towels. The layout of the suite provides comfort and plenty of room. I was getting over a cold and napped for three hours in the very comfortable king bed while my husband watched football in the other room. The only negative was no in-room safe.

The staff--from the front desk, to the managers, to the party-planners, to the wait staff--were about the best I've ever seen anywhere. They really wanted to make sure you were happy and enjoying yourselves. Everyone smiled, everyone asked how things were, everyone made you feel special.

Comfort, quality, a large room and bathroom, a lot of "bang for the buck" made this a great place to be on New Year's Eve. I don't know who they will have next year, but if we can dance to the music, we'll be there!

“BED BUGS!!!! I wish I would have checked this site before staying!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 January 2012

My family and I stayed here during Christmas while visiting family. We have always enjoyed staying at Embassy hotels that is why I did not even think about checking the bed for bed bugs before sleeping! Unfortunately, I did not know what bed bugs were. I thought you would not be able to see them. BIG MISTAKE!! The first night I was unable to sleep so around 3am I was in the bed reading my cell phone and I saw a little brown bug run across the comforter right in front of my phone. I really thought it was just a fluke! But, i reported it to management that next morning and assumed he would have an exterminator come in and kill the bug (thought it was a baby roach).
We had to leave to visit family that day. We did not get back to our room until around 10 pm. We all went to bed. The next morning I woke up and had what looked like mosquito bites all over my neck arms, waist, back, and legs. I did not know what it was at that point. Showed to my husband and he made me show to same manager again. The manager said they did not have bed bugs. I believed him.

Got home was really feeling horrible - did research online and sure enough - BED BUGS! Management still insist no bed bugs but is not true. I want to warn others because I got a really bad allergic reaction from it.

Room Tip: Check for bed bugs before going to sleep!

“Very warm indoor pool and hot tub!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 December 2011

Very clean, modern rooms. Very comfortable king size bed. Large bathroom. Only complaints for the room would be that the air conditioner was a bit noisy when it is was cycling on and off and we had one of the last rooms down the hall, which was quite the walk especially if you have mobility problems. The indoor pool and hot tub were one of the warmest I have been in. Very nice! The made to order omelettes at breakfast were excellent. They also provided a good selection of other foods to choose from. The manager's reception was nice. One night they offered a fruit platter and various chips. The next night it was a veggie platter and various chips. Each guest also receives 2 complimentary drinks. We attended a rehearsal dinner for a wedding here and the food was excellent. I loved the chicken parmesan. The next day the wedding was in the large atrium with the reception at the adjoining Marriot. That was very convenient for all of the out of town guests. I thought the staff did a nice job putting up signs warning guests to please be quiet during certain hours for the ceremony and even closing the pool which is next to the atrium. I thought that was very respectful for the couple. I was disappointed that we had to pay $10 a day for parking. Being a guest of the hotel to their attached parking garage, I would have thought it would have been free or at least reduced rate parking. Inside the hotel, there is a hair salon, a Starbuck's and a small but nice looking fitness center. Overall, I would recommend this hotel. It was a nice comfortable stay.

“Friendly staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 December 2011

This hotel is in downtown Winston-Salem and is convenient to restaurants, convention center, and the Stevens Center. It is a typical Embassy Suites with an atrium. I found staff to be very friendly and the rooms were spacious, clean, and appeared to be recently updated. Breakfast buffet had a nice selection. My only concern was that they seemed to be understaffed at times and then unable to handle the requests if multiple guests needed something at the same time.
