We were on our way to the Outer Banks and decided to spend the night to break up the long trip. The Holiday Inn Express was the perfect place for us. It was just off the highway and easy to find. The room was clean with a great King Bed. They had a pool in the back and some friendly efficient people on the desk. They got us in our room quickly. The price of $89.00 was most appealing for the quality of the room and was perfect for travellers passing through looking for a nice place to rest up for the drive the next day. I would certainly recommend this hotel to anyone travelling though Winston Salem.

This hotel is just average. It's not as nice as other Holiday Inn Express hotels we have stayed in. Our room and bathroom felt out-of-date, particularly the furniture and light fixtures. The value is good though, and the complimentary breakfast in the morning was nice. The hallways and the lobby are clean and quiet.

Nice clean hotel, friendly staff, good location. No refrigerators in the rooms, so bring a cooler if you want to keep drinks cool. If you are a light sleeper ask for a room NOT facing I-40, it wasn't a problem for me, but I know it may be for some.

I mistakenly booked a discounted room online and requested a "Standard" room. I am not an expert on hotel lingo and I didn't not realize this would open me up to having a smoking room. I arrived here late from setting up our booth at Spring market 2011 and realized I was given a smoking room and told that was my only option and no I could not have a refund. In this day and age when smoking has practically been banned everywhere because of second hand smoke health ris one would assume a company would never force a client to stay in a smoking room against his or her wishes. I have just gotten over a cold and have a sinus infection so this is doubly bad. I was basically told by the assistant manager that i should have read the fine print when I booked my room so beware of the fine print. Profit over people......
