This stay was GREAT! We had a warm reception at the front desk, the hotel was extremely clean and so was the room. Angela checked us in and did her best to help us find some local barbeque. She took the time to do some research, call a few places, and contacted me in our room with the unfortunately bad news that nobody was open (it being after 3PM on a Sunday). The fact that she was willing to do that speaks volumes about their customer service oriented mentality. I've gone to many, many, many hotels during my business travels (most of them HIE) and have never had someone go to the lengths she did. My question is usually answered with a "Gee...I don't know where to eat around here." When I told her what we were thinking of doing she recommended some over others and gave insightful help on the decisions I had made. GREAT job! The next day the front desk staff was bright and cheery as well! (Note: Another reviewer mentioned "Angel"....I might have wrote down Angela by mistake and it was actually Angel or maybe the other writer got it wrong. If not then that place is stocked with great staff!)
The hotel is about a block from Wake Forest hospital (I don't think thats the actual name) and only about a five minute drive to Old Salem. There are numerous restaurants near it as well.
I've got to return to the area in a few weeks and if there is any way I can stay here I will!
