Lindsey at the front desk was VERY VERY helpful. I wish I could say the same for April, who seemed to have an attitude when I requested 2 extra pillows because, as she said, "I'll have to go to the 5th floor to get them". My housekeeper did an awesome job cleaning my room, but she did not speak english. None of the housekeepers spoke english so it was a little hard for my husband to tell her that she had done a great job. Luckily, I am hispanic and was able to speak with her. The room was basic at best. This place is great for just a brief stay. The pool looked dirty and the hot tub was out of order, which sucked for me because I had a horrible backache and would've loved to soak in there.
Stay here at least once a month. Staff is very nice and the hotel is comfortable. Internet is fast. Close to the beach and downtown. The bar is nicely stocked and the priority club reception Mon-Thurs is a lot of fun. Indoor pool is open year round.
Though the check in staff (Larry, always Larry, a.m. and p.m.) is always under-staffed, they still manage to smile, smile, smile. The rooms are clean and unremarkable, with the typical upgrades (granite in the bathroom, curved shower rod, etc). Fridge and micro in room. As an 'older' traveller, I don't love the giant mirrors that face the tub, ever!
Downstairs is where this place shines. An above average breakfast hot hotel buffet adn a restaurant staff that is willing to please. Come by at night and meet Max the bar tender for and entertaining drink. There's a two-for-one drink coupon when you check in. I was hoping for a little better grade of wine and tequila, but I'm snobby that way.
This hotel is reasonably priced and about 15 minutes from Wrightsville Beach and some great sea food restaurants...and right across the street is Hironomous Seafood...don't miss it!
We stayed here for one night before a week at Oak Island. Room was standard. They did give us drink vouchers when we checked in along with free breakfast vouchers for the next morning. The breakfast staff was very unfriendly and slow, but the food was really good. We usually stay at Holiday Inn Express, but would return to this hotel. It was in a good location - close to downtown, restaurants, shops, etc. Only negative point was the breakfast staff.
