This is second-hand; I did not actually stay there but spent a lot of time: my husband and I booked our 50th anniversary party in Beau Rivage clubhouse -- beautifully done, fantastic food!-- and had 19 relatives staying in 9 units for 3 or 4 nights. Some are used to topnotch hotels, and all told us repeatedly they were very pleased with their spacious units and the surroundings, the comfortable atmosphere that worked well for gathering. After reading a couple bad reviews here 2 wks before, we (living in Wilmington) rushed there unannounced and were shown several rooms and reassured by resident family members who operate the resort and stand behind their cleaning staff and their personal attention.
Our guests knew ahead the units were not elegant, a tad dated but comfortable, and they enjoyed the huge bathrooms, many with double sinks, and found the huge living rooms and the private patios great for family visiting (and small after-party parties when we joined them...) Each morning we all pushed tables and chairs together in the clubhouse's screened porch for great, cheap breakfasts cooked to order with many choices, and all the time we wanted for visiting. Some tried and liked the pool, also; I was not there myself.
The location was perfect -- 10 minutes to our house, 10 minutes to Carolina Beach, and 10 minutes to Wilmington's historic downtown where we took great boat trip on Wilmington Water Tours' big catamaran, and 15 minutes for those who wanted to tour the Battleship North Carolina and Airlie Gardens on Wilmington's east side (all well worth it). None were golfers, but loved the view of the course from each of their rooms.
And they loved the price -- $62 Thurs and Sunday and $123 on the weekend -- for condos rather than cramped hotel rooms.
