“Run, Don't Walk - It's THAT bad!”

I am surprised that the health department in Wilmington allows this hotel to remain in business. It was one of the most repulsive places I've been to (see attached pics).
I booked this property online and it does not look like it does in the site's pictures. I also have a hard time believing that the positive reviews of this place are real. Clean? Renovated? Absolutely not.
The first room they gave me was just run down and disgusting. I asked if they had any better. They showed me four other rooms -- they were all as gross as the first. In the fourth room, I pointed out the filth, and they said they'd have housekeeping clean "again". This is when the story gets really amazing -- the housekeeper did a once over and asked me to look again. I had to SHOW her the dirty toilet, the mold, the toothpaste in the sink, and everything else. She took a spray bottle and dry rag into the room and came out five minutes later. The mold was still there, the dirt was still there, the TOOTHPASTE was still there. She went and got her supervisor, who told me that "those things don't come out". I had to take the rag from her and show her that they did. So then the two of them start cleaning....and after eight minutes they emerge. There is still mold on the faucet, in the bath, on the floor....and there's still debris on the floor because they never vacuumed.
Burn stains in the bedding.
Plastic covered mattresses.
I felt dirty just sitting there.
And while all this is going on, some guy in the parking lot is threatening to beat up his girlfriend, and another guy is hanging over the balcony yelling obscenities to his friends.
I got out of there, and would recommend that you don't even try it. Unless you like squalor.

“Great value for $40”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 February 2010

Room is clean, enough cable channels, everything works. Room comes with microwave, small fridge, safe. Fine dining (Taco Bell, Wendys, BoJangles) all a short walk. Only downside was it was cold and it took like 2 hours to heat the room up.

“OMG!!!!! Be afraid, be very afraid!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 July 2009

We wanted a room for one night while we visited the local beaches and this is all we could find at the price we could afford on our budget at last minute. First, once you arrive you can immediately tell that this is an older building in need of remodeling. We shrugged it off because we were tired from the trip and went to check in. I had booked the room at travelodge.com and was just glad to have a place to rest. The person behind the desk looked like Shaggy from Scooby Doo and acted as if he didn't know what he was doing or was probably high, who knows? He kept saying "groovy, man". Anyway, we were given our key cards and went to room 118. Once inside, first thing we noticed was a HUGE moth on the window curtain. We had to kill it because it refused to move, looked as though it was at home. Second thing we noticed was the musty smell. Then we found some rather mysterious sticky spots on the carpet. We immediately heard this annoying beeping sound and soon discovered that the microwave was stuck on the number 1 and you couldn't get it to stop beeping so we unplugged it. The ice machine was on the other side of the building and it was VERY NASTY!! The small refrigerator was a joke! There wasn't a control knob inside and it took forever to get cold. The bathroom area was a little small but it was adequate for our one night stay. The shower pressure was really good. The telephone was located on top of the little stand where the refrigerator and microwave was and was unplugged. We ordered pizza for supper and had to plug it in to call for the delivery. The remote for the television had to be shaken to get it to work, but once on the tv had good channels and reception. The wireless internet was very spotty. It came a downpour and the parking lot flooded rather quickly. It was rather noisy all around us but thank goodness we were so tired by the time we went to bed. Thank goodness for the earplugs I packed!! The next morning we went to the office to check out. Shaggy wasn't there but was replaced by what seemed to be a man of Middle-eastern or Indian descent. He was so busy chatting it up with two women in there, he hardly noticed me turning in the keycards. The "Bear Bites" breakfast area is very small and there was cereal, apple and orange juice, milk, and danishes. The danishes we had were so stale and the only thing that was good was the juice. We then hurried up out of there!! I will NEVER go there again! If we hadn't been so weary from the trip, we would have demanded a refund and slept in the car. I had never stayed on Market Street in Wilmington before and in places it looked very seedy and unsafe. I hope the other local motels are better than this!

“They have remodled!!! Nice clean place, we will deff. be back”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 June 2009

I am in a band and my collegues and I travel a lot. We are doing some recording work in Wilmington and will now be staying at THE TRAVELODGE from now on. We were staying at a hotel down the street. This one is much cleaner though, and they have remodled. We enjoyed, the staff was very courteous and looked out for us on a holiday weekend. We thought it was clean, and there was no loitering in the parking lot like you see at other hotels. Bob and his staff were very nice to us!!!!
