The room was clean and the bed was comfortable - all pretty much a given for Hampton Inns, but even for a Hampton this one was a bit on the high price side. There are three reasons why I tend to stay at Hamptons: (1) the comfort of the bed and the quality of the bathroom; (2) the wireless internet connection; and (3) a breakfast that is better than most of the run-of-the-mill hotels. At this hotel, #3 was a poor showing. I don't tend to think of myself as a picky eater, but I am allergic to raw apples, and apples were the only fruit option offered here. Not even any bananas. So I could not have any fruit. I am almost a vegetarian and so shy away from anything with sausage in it, and can generally count on Hamptons having eggs. Although I get tired of the hard boiled eggs, they are still eggs, and offer a good protean. Not at this Hampton. The only egg option was a pre-packaged, take-away, egg omelet mixed with sausage. There were only a couple of yogurts. The hotel was relying on customers being satisfied with toast, cheap muffins, plain bagels and cereal. Guess I should have saved my money and stayed at a Comfort Inn or something or Motel 6.
I'm a Hilton Honors traveler, but I do have to say that lately Hampton Inns seem to be sliding down in quality. I'm beginning to switch more towward Homewood Suites - same cost; better value; same family of hotels.
I would not stay at the Hampton in little Washington again.
