We have had the pleasure of staying at the Island House B&B several times over the past 10 years and most recently the end of March for 3 nights. Our suite was beautifully decorated with many antiques and a bed with fluffy pillows, a comfortable mattress, and a beautiful antique quilt. The InnKeepers, Jean and Roy Green, have paid great attention to detail in making sure their guests have all the comforts of home and more. Our room was meticulous! We had our own sitting room with a television, DVD player, and a jaccuzzi in the bathroom. It was so nice to come back in the evening and have a bottle of wine as well as mints waiting for us in our room. Even though the weather was a little cold as it was March, we found plenty of interesting things to do at the house from looking at all the Green's collections, antiques, books, music collection, and watching movies. There is a lovely sun porch where we relaxed and took a nap. Our breakfast every morning was delicious. You could help yourself to a variety of hot or cold foods and special diets were accomodated. When we left to go back home to our hectic work schedule, we were relaxed and better able to cope with our busy lives. We plan to go back to the Island House sometime this summer.

We have stayed at this location many times over the past 12 years or so and have always thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. Jeanne is very knowledgeable about the area with regard what to see and where to eat. She does a remarkable job running the business by herself and is always warm and wekcoming and eager to please her guests. Breakfasts are always delicious and Jeanne will also cater to special needs if told ahead of time It has also been a lot of fun meeting the other guests and we have met some really interesting people over the years which can lead to some great conversation at breakfast time.
We have sent several of our friends here over the years and they have always enjoyed their stay at the b and b.

My most recent trip to the Island House proved to be as enjoyable and comfortable as the last (August 2009.) The couple of times I have visited at the Island House it has always proven to be comfortable, relaxing and has given me the feeling of home. The Inn Keeper Jeanne welcomes guests with open arms and has never come across as one to make anyone feel unwelcome. There are four rooms all with different looks and feels to them....my favorite one happend to be at the front of the house where the most sunshine comes in....it's spacious and decorated in yellows and pinks......so cozy. In my opinion, this is one of the best B&B's on the Outer Banks and I am looking forward to my next visit.

Jeanne was fabulous. Her pleasant personality made me feel right at home. Breakfast was fantastic. Her cheese grits were unrivalled as were the other fixings. She made sure that I had every accommodation. She even gave suggestions on where to go and what to do. I will definitely be making another trip to wanchese in the near future. Can't wait to get some more of her famous grits.
