“Awesome winter weekend”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2012

Since winter has completely ignored us this year we decided to go look for it. My wife and I decided to surprise our son and travel to the NC Mountains for snow tubing. I decided to surprise my wife by booking a room at the historic Mast Farm Inn (MFI)...MAJOR brownie points!
It was an awesome weekend. If you are looking for the perfect way to "decompress" I highly recommend the MFI. I selected the "Blacksmith Cabin" which was ideal for the 3 of us. The cabin is rustic yet comfortable with hand-sewn blankets and a wood/gas stove. It even has a loft with a bed and a claw foot tub. We even received snow overnight while we were there. The package also included breakfast at the Inn which was worth the $$$ by itself.

“Beautiful location, wonderful staff, hip new cabin with loft”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 January 2012

My husband and I stayed for five nights between Christmas and New Year's and it was wonderful. We had never been to the area before and it was even better than expected. We stayed in the Mam's Refuge cabin, which is new as of October 2011, and it was beautifully decorated and perfect for one or two couples. The loft area with king bed was so cozy and welcoming that we didn't end up hiking as much as we planned because we were lounging and reading and napping so much! Oh, and definitely eat dinner at the restaurant at least one night -- both the breakfasts and dinners were fantastic. Finally, Butters the farm cat was a wonderful plus. He kept us company on the walkway from the main house up to the cabin. I miss you, Butters! I guess we'll have to come back and visit.

Room Tip: Lots of steps to climb from the main house to the newer cabins (though I suppose you can drive also...

“A Get-Away Place to Treasure”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 January 2012

Come to Mast Farm Inn and let your cares and concerns float away on the nearby Watauga River. Sit by the fire in your room and write or read to your heart's content. Eat exquisitely prepared food--dining is an unbelievable pleasure. Sit in the sunroom and look across the fields and imagine other way of living not so long ago. Leave Mast Farm Inn restored and regretful that your stay has come to an end. We did.

“Great Weekend Getaway”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 January 2012

My husband and I had a wonderful time at the Mast Farm Inn. We stayed in the Elizabeth Gray Vining room which we set up perfect. It had cozy chairs to sit by fireplace and read for awhile. One of my favorite parts of our stay was the hot drink delivery in the morning. We really enjoyed relaxing in the morning. It's not often it happens that way - normally always in the evening. Breakfast was also delicious.

“Beautiful rustic cabin had all the right "High Country" touches”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 January 2012

I'm just now getting around to reviewing this B&B, and we stayed at Mast Inn in Nov of 2010. Personal touches were very quaint. We stayed in the private Mast Cabin. A lovely and well restored part of Watauga County history, the cabin was rustic and romantic. There was local music in the stereo, a plate of snacks upon arrival, and artisanal coffee and tea. The dinner and breakfast services were superb. The menus even had me and my husband's names interspersed very cutely throughout the food descriptions. They made for nice keepsakes to put into our wedding album! The cabin was warm and cozy, with central heat in addition to a wood stove. The bed was very soft and warm! I highly recommend this beautiful B&B. Valle Crucis is a hidden gem, only 10 minutes outside of Boone.
