It is good to return to a favorite B&B after a year and find that it is even better than you remembered it.

My family and I stayed at The Baird House in August of 2011 and found it to be an unexpected oasis! The owners were generous and entertaining. The Inn was beautifully decorated and breakfast was fantastic. Sitting on the porch and listening to the river in the morning while we drank our coffee was an absolutely wonderful experience. Our rooms were spotless and comfortable. The location adjacent to the Watauga River was scenic and off the beaten path, so it was delightfully quiet. We loved everything about The Baird House and will definitely be back soon.

My husband and I have stayed at the Baird House three years in a row to celebrate our anniversary. We have stayed in a different room each time and have loved the unique qualities and charm each different room has to offer. Deede and Tom are the best hosts and make you instantly feel like family. They have never steered us wrong with dining advice and my husband and I look forward to the breakfasts (and the yummy cookies!) all year long. We bought Deede's cookbook and have made several of her recipes our new family favorites. We have sent a few family members to stay and they all loved it as much as we did. We plan on making our annual trip for as many years as they will let us!

We selected the Baird House after reading the other Trip Advisor reviews and they were all spot on. Great location, beautiful scenery, remote but near enough to all the great things to do in the NC highcountry area. Our room was light, airy and quite comfortable. Even in the middle of July, it was cool at night sleeping with the windows open. Deede and Tom are fabulous hosts. They know how to make you feel comfortable and welcomed. We enjoyed lively conversation with them when they sat with us for breakfast, as we were the only breakfast guests that mid-week morning. They provided great recommendations for dining and things to do around the area. Breakfast was fabulous, as were Deede's always available and abundent chocolate chip cookies. My favorite place to hang out was the front porch overlooking the Watauga River, a great place to sit and read a book or chat with other guests. I took advantage of the easy wading access to the Watauga River for some early morning fly fishing before breakfast. Highly recommend the Baird House for a great place to unwind and relax!
