“Beautiful Campground”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 September 2011

My fiancee and I stayed here in August 2011 for 3 nights in the "Kamping Lodge", it was perfect! We booked under a special that was buy 2 nights stay the 3rd for free which was a great deal! the lodge looked just like the pictures on the website, there was a small gas range, full size refrigerator, coffee maker, and toaster in the kitchen, seperate bedroom, bunkbeds in the hallway, and a futon and small tv with cable in the "living room". The cabin was very clean when we arrived the only complaints are, the resevoir which holds the water in the coffee pot was quite dirty and hard to clean, and the bed in the bedroom was very uncomfortable..but it's better than sleeping in a tent on the ground!

“So nice”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 September 2011

A very nice campground. This was our first KOA experience and it was just fine. All employees were helpful and courteous. Restrooms/showers were excellent and very clean. On the morning of checkout it was pouring down rain and we were not rushed out of the campground. In other words, we dodged showers and took out time (past checkout time) to pack up. We can't say that would be the case all of the time due to previous reservations.
Our only complaint and it really isn't any ones fault are the No see ums in the Small Lake area where we camped. We got many bites and first thought it was mosquitoes. Other campers informed us that out bites were not due to mosquitoes but they were from No see ums! Don't know if other areas in the campground have the same problem, but if you stay around the Little Lake...bring some sort of bug lotion/spray. Have fun at this clean and well managed campground.

“Nice Campground”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 September 2011

We just stayed for the first time Labor Day weekend. The campground was nice ,spots a little too close together. The bathrooms was very clean. The only complaint I had was they charged $5 for each adult above 2....My son & his wife went with us and they charged $33 for the spot & $30 extra for 2 more adults, they were only 4 people on our site. I did not think that was right,so we paid $129 for 3 nites for 4 adults, pretty high for a family campground....I called & talked to manager & she said the sites were for 2 adults & 2 kids, pardon me but that's 4 people....oh & let me tell you the train comes by about 5 times a nite, & kept us up everytime it went through, so if your a lite sleeper don't camp here. Don't think we'll go back, said they were all kinds of fish in ponds didn't catch a thing....but it was a clean campground......

“Disappointing family Labor Day stay”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 September 2011 via mobile

Made reservations 2 weeks in advance for what was advertised as a heavily wooded site that was away from it all that also included water and electricity. It would be private where we wouldn't be right on top of our neighbor for my family to enjoy a camping trip over the Labor Day holiday. When we arrived we were escorted to what was supposed to be our campsite that was already occupied. I would never ask a family to break camp and move but the site we were offered was not near the site that we were cheated out of because a worker didn't pay enough attention to where he was to put another family. At least that is what we hope occurred. The site we were given had no grass and no water. The other site that we reserved sure did. We were not offered any compensation for the lesser site nor even asked if they could provide us with some water since we didn't come prepared to camp at a site without water. I love spending time with my family no matter the hardship or inconvenience though it will not be at another KOA. Our first experience with a KOA was extremely disappointing. I am very glad it was not our first experience camping.

“Beautiful location for Asheville, NC”

This was our first RV outing with our new TT and our first RV park experience. We enjoyed KOA East very much. The sites were adequate and section E along the lake was beautiful and had full hookups. Cable TV was clear and stream through property was gorgeous. Pool was clean and well maintained. Playgrounds were also in good repair. Staff was courteous and helpful with direction to our site and help backing in. The back part of the park is more wooded and was mainly empty. The train noise was a non issue unless you are a very light sleeper however it may be louder in the front of the park. Ingles supermarket was 2 miles toward Asheville on same road. After touring the facilities, I would definitely recommend lake sites as best in park. Paddle boats were great fun for the kids as well.
