“Horrible Stay Never go”

First off we normally stay at the seascape but it was booked so this one was last min. Me, my husband, mother inlaw and sister inalw went for fishing and other activites we go the room to relax, shower and sleep, we didnt expect a 5 star but they should close this one down. When i went to check In it took forevr for me to get service i had to ring the bell a few times the man was not real nice, then i got to the room and theparkin area was horrible as me and my sister inalw went in the smell wasnt so great but i could deal with it just spray some spray the shower wasnt the nices and the curtain over wondow was to short but i fixed that. The room was spacious and the air worked real good, we left to go fish and do other activites, when we came back it was late and the office was closed there were people outside there rooms drinking and playing loud music and they were very loud so there was no peace, we found out the reftigrator didnt work and the bathroom would lock you in if you were not careful, as we were sitting at the table eating a roach come crawling down the wall ewww yes my stomack turned i then got our stuff went through it and made sure we had none in our stuff and took it out to the vehicle, we left the hotel way to ealry we were in the hotel a average of 3 hrs, the pool was nice and clean but only 3ft and 5ft. its not worth $110 I will NEVER go back to this place even if its the only place left. I recommend this no one not even to just have a place to lay your head the beds are uncomfotable and the pillows they give should not be even called pillows by the way this was room #4...

Although we strive to give all of our visitors a comfortable and enjoyable visit, with over 3,000 visitors monthly (May thru Sep) we cannot posibly please them all. If 3 guests out of 3,000 are unsatisfied, my math tells me @ 1% I am doing pretty good.
I look at all reviews, and where appropriate take immediate action (any leader knows the cost of knee jerk reactions).
Like most in the hospitality industry, we contract pest control to an outside source. As well, like most our pest control service is quarterly, or between services if required (as in this review).
Most room odors (your home or my Inn), come from our guests bringing fishing gear, beach furniture, food items, etc. into a closed environment. Once introduced to that environment IT STAYS (like your home) unti the housekeeping staff can eliminate it at checkout.
We have been in business since 1994 here in Surf City. The Inn has been here since 1960 and will be here far longer than this reviewer.
The other hospitality owners are friends of ours and we would rather have a visitor stay with them than leave the Island to go elsewhere. We cannot possibly cater to the 1% and simply ignore the other 99% of our guests. (GM, Loggerhead Inc.)

“I've stayed at nicer places for less....”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 July 2010

We stayed here July 5-8. We paid $90 a night. I think you get what you pay for. It's high season and it's just across the street from public beach access so it's a great location. For us, it was all about getting to the beach for a few days and it was wonderful! The pool is clean and well kept. A major plus.

That being said, I'll caution you on just a few things. These by no means RUINED our trip. We had a WONDERFUL WONDERFUL FABULOUS TIME. But these were unpleasant surprises.

#1 They told us (by phone when I made the reservation) it was a room with 2 queen beds. They were doubles.

#2 The rooms are older and in need of some updates. But it was nothing that we HAD TO HAVE. Like new carpets or high ends beds, etc... So while it's not high end, it's fine-if you're not picky.

#3 Rooms not updated are one thing, but "un-vacuumed" kind of sucks. There was popcorn on the floor (we had just arrived, and we were not eating, nor did we eat popcorn)

#4 Another "cleanliness issue" was that we immediately noted that one of the bedspreads had a big glob of sunscreen (PLEASE GOD I HOPE IT WAS SUNSCREEN) on it. We, as a rule, don't use hotel bedspreads (you just don't know what people do on those things) so we just pulled it down and didn't use it. But come on! Gross!

#5 The sheets don't fit the beds properly and constantly pop off, leaving you to sleep on the bare mattress. Also a creepy thing, but I tried not to think about it.

#6 The towels smelled STRONGLY of a chemical? (cleaning solution?) and faintly of cigarette smoke (this was a non smoking room). They were very thin old towels.

#7 There are NO REFUNDS. This is posted prominently, so I didn't feel like I could bring any of these issues to anyone's attention. What would be the point? If you don't clean my room before I arrive, why would you clean it once I get there and complain????

So, if you just want a place to lay your head and you are capable of "camping", this room will work for you. The beach is absolutely fantastic :)

The staff were very nice and polite.

“Never going back!!!”

When we first arrived the one man inside did not seem too friendly and we got our room key. When we opened the door to our room we found that the carpets were horrible, the beds were extremely hard and look more like full size than queen. The bathrooms and windows were dirty and there was minimal lighting. We then went back to the man and asked if he had any cleaner rooms and he had one that looked about the same. He got tired of our complaint and gave us two ocean front rooms without charging extra. Because they only had one bed we needed two rooms for the four of us. Down below us was an intoxicated couple playing loud music. The TV remote was missing and the microwave didnt work in one room. In the other room the bathroom door did not close, and the beds were uncomfortable. The cleaning lady was nice but we helped her with her job so maybe thats why.

“Beware!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 August 2009

I know that hotels at the beach are not as posh as those found inland so I wasn't expecting the Hilton, but this place was way below sub-par as grades go - especially for the pay of $97/night. The staff were very nice, but room 207... the tub would not drain an the a/c took forever to work (~ 6 hours). The room is at a corner and although the manager's sign indicates to be quiet during late night - no one was quiet and the foot traffic was constant until 3am. Although freshly painted, the room still lacked. Look elsewhere. D King.
