Stayed here one night only driving to Myrtle Beach October 2003. I realize a place can change, so perhaps it has, but my stay was so unsatisfactory I had to post this now that I have discovered this website. Made reservation on Expedia, but when we got there, no reservation. I can't blame them for that --could have been an Expedia Problem.
Ended up in a smoking room (which didn't exactly please the rest of the family) at the back of the motel. Virtually everything in town was booked solid due to a race weekend in Charlotte...while waiting for her to find the non-existent reservation quite a few people came in asking the price for a room, only to be quoted what was probably 2 or 3x the traditional rate for a hotel like this--supply and demand in action I guess. But when you've driven 15 hour day, you have to stop somewhere.
As for the room—horrible--the kind where you don't even want your bare feet to touch the floor. Everything was old, worn and musty. This includes the stairs to the rooms, the hallways, etc. Luckily since we were hitting the road all we wanted to do was crash for the night and be gone at the crack of dawn....I can't imaging spending more than one night in a place like that...Did not even have the guts to use the shower as I thought would be more hygenic not to.....
In the AM it just to get a little fresh air I tried to put on the air conditioning unit air to dispel the mustiness. Didn't work, and realized it had not been plugged in...so I plugged it in and literally blue flames shot out of the heating/ac unit...so much for that...
The "free" breakfast was the worst-one pot of coffee(for the whole mote), some coffeemate and a few mini doughnuts.
My advice-stay elsewhere.
