We stayed at this hotel to attend a private event with some friends. Just to enter our room you had to use the key and kick the door a couple of time..this had to be repeated more then one each time you tried to get in. There were holes in the ceiling of the bathroom with paint peeling off badly. The room had two double beds..but only 3 towels, guess it was a good thing our friends had their own room. No microwave, which seems to be standard in every other hotel we stay in. Our friends were jealous to find out we had a refrigerator, even if it could not hold a six pack of soda standing up. It was also sitting on the floor and you had to lay down to adjust the temp. We ran the heater wide open from the moment we walked in the room, and never got the chill completely out of the room. Our friends found that their room right next door did not have a coffee maker, microwave or refrigerator. The did have writing on their pillows though, someone had written the word "Mine" on the pillow itself and the staff chose to leave it for the next guest. All in all the only god thing was it was close to shopping and restaurants. STAY away if possible. Much better choices all around you.. some at less then half the cost.

Lobby looked super nice and clean.

1st room we were given smelled of smoke and the A/C didn't work. Went to the desk and they moved us with no problems.

2nd room was fine. Room 201 King. This room was clean, had no odor and was perfect for a quick overnight before going to the gem mines in Hiddenite. We only paid $45 so didn't expect much out of the hotel.

Breakfast is called "full hot" but it is'nt. The only "hot" item on the breakfast is the waffle maker. Its fine though. Only 2 choices of juice Apple or Orange.

would reccomend if you aren't picky about your hotels.

Wonderful place to bed down for one night while visiting gem mine in nearby Hiddenite. Great location just across from east-bound exit and clean, comfy rooms. Building was generic exterior corridor, and probably circa sixties or seventies, but obviously had spent time as a Holiday Inn Express as per the blue and white stucco and 'wagon-wheels' motif. Only complaint was the desk person tried to cheat us out of the advertised rate listed on the banner out front. Said that the rate didn't apply anymore, so MAYBE they should have taken that down. Otherwise, great place for cheap!

For the Filthy Rich...This is NOT a 5 star hotel OR CITY. If thats your taste and preference, don't stop in Statesville & DRIVE THROUGH TO CHARLOTTE.

I stayed at this hotel in March, July, August & most recently October 31st of 2008.

The Truth: You do get what you pay for..you can't expect champagne on a beer budget. I got my moneys worth upon each departure. I'd love to tell you about my stay(s) if you are thinking about visiting this little town.

Breakfast Rundown...
To the best of my recollection, there are Waffles, Donuts (Apples & Bananas RECENTLY ADDED since my August stay) Bagels, Cereal, Sausage, Gravy & a few other dry items. Overall tastey and included in your room rate per night.
Cleanliness...
Pulling up to the hotel, lets state the obvious.. the property itself is at least 60 years old, a little run down but the condition of the renovated guest rooms,court yard and lobby make up a huge difference.
Customer Service...
Each time that we came we were checked out by the same bubbly clerk, Michele who was nothing short of great help with assisting us in finding a now must stop local restaurant; Mi Pueblo. Cris was also great in providing directions and ammenities after hours without making us walk to the front desk in the dead of night. Ultimately it made us feel comfortable to see familar smiling faces which played a big part in why we've continued AND WILL continue to come back.. but I must admit the breakfast is my favorite part!
