I made our reservations on-line and prepaid in order to get a special rate. Checked in on Monday and was disappointed there wasn't a refrigerator in the room - later found out that I could have had one if I had asked - and probably paid a fee - but I didn't... I went to get ice and the ice machine was not were it said it was on the location map. I walked around the property and still couldn't find one. i went back to the lobby and the clerk was checking in someone so I had to wait a full 10 minutes before she could get to me. She was the only person there. She went to the kitchen and got me a bucket of ice and said there was a machine on the second floor at the back of the building, if I needed more. This didn't make me a happy customer. The HBO had trouble one day - all day - due to weather and it effected serveral other channels. There wasn't a luggage rack in the room. Little things that tend to make a stay a little more plesant were lacking. They have a great buffet breakfast each morning. A very good value. Upon checking out, I discovered I had not been given my original rate and the clerk said I was given the hotel reservation rate rather than the on-line rate. After bringing this to his attention he did credit my account with the correct amount. He said he didn't have any way of knowing what rate I had been quoted on my reservation. This sounds like a management snafu. This place is probably okay for guys on the road working construction, etc...because I did see a lot of them there but I will pay the extra few dollars next time and stay somewhere where I don't have to "hunt" for ice and don't have to have my suitcase on the floor. Location was very good to get to everything in the area and it was relatively a quiet place.

SAY SOMEWHERE ELSE....OH THERE IS AN ODD SMELL

A group of guys including myself went on a golf outing for a week. In the past we always go to Myrtle Beach but some of the guys wanted to go somewhere different this time so we came to Southern Pines and let me say "YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR" yes, the hotel is cheap and that's about the only good thing I can say about it!!! We called ahead of time to see if there were fridges and microwaves in the rooms and we were told yes, in every room well none of our 6 rooms had them, the rooms were dirty and not well maintained, the "free" breakfast is terrible, and the staff doesn't have a clue!!!! I will never stay at this hotel again.

The only good thing about this hotel is how close it is to downtown Southern Pines.

The room seemed clean enough, but the TV kept going to static every time we changed the channel. It would come back after a minute or so.

The bathroom left a lot to be desired. The toilet ran, had water stains and looked like it had been taken out and put back in sloppily. The shower floor looked like it hadn't been cleaned in about 5 years - the grime was built up on it so thick, I dont think the cleaning staff could have gotten it out if they had tried (and I'm not sure how much they actually tried). We wore our flip flops to take a shower. The second day, the maid put a new garbage bag in the can, but forgot to take the full garbage bag out, so we had a nice present waiting for us when we got back to the room.

The staff didn't know squat about anything. I called on our way down to NC because my GPS system wasn't recognizing the hotel address. I had to prod the woman I spoke to for cross streets to try to get a different address to enter into the system, and the streets she gave me didn't even intersect. Thank goodness I was able to access google maps on my phone, or we never would have found the place. On our second night, we had a voicemail waiting for us on the hotel system, and the message button on the phone didnt work. I called the front desk and the woman told me she forgot how to access the system and to try the morning shift. When I called in the morning, the woman working said if the button on the phone didnt work, I could not get my message. I said there must be some way to access the system without pressing the button and the woman said she didn't know how to do it. I asked if there was anyone else there who may know how to access the system, and I was told no. I asked if there was a supervisor I could speak to and was told no. Later on, I found a laminated card in our room that showed how to access the system by pressing 77 on the phone. Why wouldn't the front desk have this information handy????

When I checked out, I had to wait for the woman at the desk to end her cell phone conversation (she was making plans for that night) to get my bill.
