“Charming Inn turned noisy night club = sad”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 June 2010

Used to absolutely love this place. Very nicely renovated 100 year old inn with luxurious spacious rooms with all the modern conveniences. The staff is also very friendly and helpful.

However, on our last visit it became apparent that this place has lost its identity. They now focus on drawing large crowds with live music on the weekends, i.e. a nightclub. The band was great but not outside of our room. This is a small and quaint place so no matter which room you are in you are going to hear the band and crowd like they were in your room. The band played until midnight and the bar was open until 2 AM with a very loud crowd. We didnt get to sleep until 3 AM! Quite frustrating when you pay $300/night for a quiet weekend. They did give us a $100 credit on our bill for the trouble. However, it was clear this was a common problem as some of the waitresses warned us that it would be quite loud in our room and appeared to be apologizing in advance. I've also noticed one other review on this site that describes an earily similar experience. If you want to stay up late partying with live music this place will be great for you. But if you want a quiet getaway this is not it. They should just be upfront with people when they make their reservation.

In the end it just doesn't seem possible to have a quaint inn and a nightclub on the same property. Its unfortunate because this place has so much potential. Its also inconsiderate to mislead the guests. They should change the name from Jefferson Inn to Jefferson Nightclub.

“Another outstanding time at the Jefferson Inn”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 April 2010

Ourselves and two other couples had another outstanding stay at the Jefferson Inn. The little Victorian Inn in the heart of Southern Pines feels like home because of the friendlyness of the staff Curtis the owner who is always on site. The nicely appointed rooms, very comfortable beds and the sound of the train whistles in the night are delightful. If you are planning a golf trip to this area check out the Jefferson as a place to stay while playing some of the "other" good courses in the area. Southern Pines Golf Club less than two miles away is a hidden gem.

the rooms and new renovations looked great. the food was pretty good, but there are better places around town to eat. the owner is ridiculous with his hummer parked on the curb right out front!

“Mmmmm, loved it.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 August 2009

I was not expecting anything so.... luxurious. Not that I'm a hotel snob at all, so perhaps this wouldn't meet others desciptions, but I thought it was phenomenal. The bedding was like a cloud, the decor was just beautiful, I love the dark wood set against the clean bright sheets. We were in a room with double beds and would have preferred just a king (or queen really, kings are just so large...), so they offered to move us the next day when one was available, but it seemed to be such a waste of linen since the room was perfect otherwise.
Had drinks one night in the bar downstairs... lots of people rolled through for the live music- enjoyed the ambiance. Great location too, walkable to the cute Southern Pines shops.

“Awesome weekend get-away”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 July 2009

We stayed at the Jefferson Inn for the "Blues Crawl". It was in walking distance to the Sunrise Theatre, many cool little boutiques and shops, a wine store, coffee shops, cafes, etc. We stayed in the jr. suite which was beautiful. Two large columns separated the king size bed from the living area....nice sofa, coffee table and 42" flat screen TV (perfect view from bed also). The bathroom was beautiful.... pedestal sink with nice mirror above.... also hand mirror and wall mirror. Very large tile bathtub with shower and rain shower. Great view to courtyard below. There is a tavern/bar area inside with tables....and also tables in the courtyard. We ate dinner in the restaurant... it was fabulous! Great food..... don't miss the she-crab soup, lots of crab-meat! We met the owner and he was extremely friendly as were all of the staff. Very light continental breakfast served in the morning. We will definitely be back!
