“After staying in several hotels in the pinehurst/southern pines area Ive found a hidden gem”

After staying in several hotels in the area this hotel was suggested to me by a friend. I was staying in the area for several weeks for work. When you pull into the microtel its grounds are friendly and astetically pleasing. The lobby area is laid out a little small and strange but other than that the common areas are decent. The staff at the hotel are friendly and very eager to please. Once your inside you will get the wrong impression of the accomodations from the hallways they have an odd old, sweaty smell that leaves you hoping the rooms arent the same. You will be pleasantly suprised once you check out the rooms. Large rooms, larger then most, clean and well decored. White spreads and linens, daybed for reading by the window and moderate work area. Plenty of open room and very inviting atmosphere. The entire back wall of the room is mirrored which to me gave the rooms a more open and cheery feeling. Their were only two problems I had with the rooms. First they dont offer shampoo or conditioner in the bathroom and since I spend days away from home I tend not to carry these so they dont leak into my suitcase. This was a little inconvient. Secondly, I found the televisions to be small, old and oddly placed. The tvs are in the corner above the closet and are a little difficult to see. They would benefit by upgrading to more easily situated flat screens. The only other issue I found was the hotels minimul continental breakfast, could be much better but something is better then nothing. This is a great little hotel. Plenty of food around the area in walking distance, a few bars and a price that especially in this area cant be beat. For us at 49.99 a night Ill definately stay here again.

“Mackerral-Smell- In”

This place sucks, don't waste your money. The entire first floor is mold infested and smell like fish, probably due to carpet on concrete slab, that and lack of cleaning. I couldn't decide which was worse the smell of the carpet or the breath of the loser at the front desk! The toilet was disgusting, between the nine layers of yellow caulking, the green build-up in the bowl, and the fact that it runs all the time, they definitly are not trying to conserve water! When I pulled the rancid curtain asside to open the window,I found that you can only open about two inches before hitting a stop, what if I wanted more air or better had to get out during an emergency?Again opening the curtain revealed walls that are marred with filth, showing lack of painting in years maybe decades. After staying there I skipped breakfast for obvious reasons. Though the bed was amazingly new-ish, the ac made a horrible noise, the phone was hard to hear and the wall sconce would not shut off!! Yeah I wouldn't recommend to the homeless!!!

“Nice, clean comfortable...helpful staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 August 2011

I spent 4 comfortable nights at this hotel. I had a lot of work to get done, and the room I had accommodated my needs very well. The staff were helpful with making copies and getting faxes. The coffee was GREAT and the breakfast menu was adequate. The room price was excellent and I joined the Wyndham club after staying there because I was so impressed.

“fantastic bed linens, nosy staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 January 2009

The bed linens were snow white and clean as a pin! The pillows were fluffy. The window seat was a great touch! The man behind the counter was a bit nosy but all in all I give this place a 4 out of 5 stars. I found it clean and inviting.

  • Liked — linens on bed
  • Disliked — the front desk male

“Would recommend”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 September 2008

We booked 2 rooms there Labor Day weekend for one night. Both rooms had 2 queen beds which had the new Dream Well bedding. This was a welcome change from their old type bedding. I tend not to rest well in a motel due to hard mattresses but had a good night's sleep at Microtel. The motel is in a good location, the staff was very pleasant to deal with. When we arrived neither room had the A/C on and the rooms were quite hot. The family members traveling with us had a box fan but we did not. The lobby graciously lent us their fan until the room cooled down. They had no other rooms with 2 beds that they could move us to that were cooler - they did check (they offered, we didn't ask). The rooms were clean - it did take the hot water awhile to get to the shower the next morning but there were not many guests in our wing of the hotel. Once we let the water run long enough everything was fine. The motel had lowered their basic rate rather than giving various discounts and the price was very reasonable. Regular carb breakfast offered as part of the rate. Would recommend this motel to anyone traveling through the area.
