Man I have called alot of hotels in my time but this place seems to not like answering their phones,, then they answer rudely and fail to listen well. How hard is it to answer the phone and pay attention to the caller.. My gosh the service sucks already and I haven't seen the inside yet. Going to see my spouse and staying only one night. Thank god.

We visted this hotel for the last time. We have been visitors for over 30 years. Better upgraded rooms we have never seen. Our reason for visiting was for our children. They enjoyed the play ground area and pool. Once the hotel started letting the younger crowds in with late night music and noise drinking, drugs and so much more we decided we had enough. Trash under the beds many bugs. Dirty towels, sheets stains lipstick on pillow cases urine on bed spreads.

We stayed here after I'd read the reviews of Selma/Smithfield motels on Tripadvisor. In the past we'd stayed at two other spots on the same road. This is a conventient stopping location after a long drive from either FL or the Northeast on I95. We're not picky travelers and would prefer to spend our dollars on a nice dinner. However the non-smoking room definitely had a smoky odor, the carpet was sticky and the bathroom had quite a bit of mold around the tub, sink, etc. The walls either had dust or lint on the slightly rough surfaces. Linens and towels were clean and adequate. The air conditioner was kind of like a jet engine every time in kicked on and my husband, who usually sleeps like a log, woke up each time. I told the person at the desk about the room condition on checking out but it wasn't clear he was going to take any action on it. Next time we do this trip - we'll stay at one of the many chain motels nearby.

We stay here on our way to Mrytle Beach. This August will be our 4th year in a row staying at the Royal. It's a nice motel for travelers on rt 95. if all you want is luxury, thens it's not the place for you. Looking for a nice quiet, little motel with a great price, try the Royal Inn.
