“A unique, fun experience!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 July 2010

What a delightful place to stay! When my husband and I decided to travel to the East Coast for our vacation, we wanted to stay in unique places along the way. I found the Firehouse Inn in Rutherfordton, NC online, made a reservation, and built our route around this Bed and Breakfast. We were delighted with this gem! The room was very spacious and clean, breakfast was wonderful and the staff very friendly and helpful. We hope we can pass through Rutherfordton sometime because we know we would without a doubt pick the Firehouse Inn again.

“100% R & R in Rutherfordton, NC -”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 April 2010

The Firehouse Inn exceeded our expectations from the moment we arrived! The room was five star clean, the ammenities equal to a five star rating. David the inn keeper was a charming morning host and chef for our amazing breakfast served in a beautiful B & B ambiance. Sandy, the event coordinator for the inn sincerely assisted us wth our every need inclusive within the inn and for places to eat beyond the inns meals, places to golf, shop, and so much more. We will be back and would recommend without question to all. (Only suggestion is not specific to the inn but to Rutherfordton area - if possible schedule stay from mid week toward later part if you wish to have more selection for fine dining, however, not a requisite to still enjoying the trip and the stay.)

“Wonderful stay! Beautiful room! Everything perfect!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 January 2010

We just returned from a weekend getaway to the Firehouse Inn. It was just beautiful! We stayed in the Firehouse Suite. It features a king-sized bed, as well as a king-sized bathroom! High ceilings make the bedroom feel bigger than it is. There's a separate area with a desk. It has a huge closet and big round top windows in all three areas of the room. There's a gas fireplace in the bedroom, a tv and a Bose wave radio. The bathroom has a 6 foot whirlpool tub, as well as a tiled shower with two shower heads. The toilet and a second vanity area is separated from the rest of the bathroom. The common areas of the inn are also very nice. The innkeeper was very helpful and cooked up a great breakfast. The inn is located within walking distance of several restaurants. Rutherfordton is a charming town...perfect for a relaxing weekend! We'd definately stay at the Firehouse Inn again!

“enjoyable stay at Firehouse Inn”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 November 2009

My Wife and I had a very enjoyable stay at Firehouse Inn. We arrived in the middle of the week so their was only one other guest. We were warmly greeted and given a very nice tour of the old firehouse. We stayed in room 1 that had the hot tube and wonderful walk in shower. The Inn keeper told us how everything worked and told us when breakfast is served. This is a SUPER place to stay; it has a large entertainment / breakfast place. Room 1 was very nice with separate room for the bedroom, computer room, bathroom, sink and closet. The only disappointing thing was that their Wi-Fi was not working correctly. Within walking distance is the historic downtown. Just 2 blocks from the inn on the historic downtown is a restaurant named 119 it is a good place to eat with entertainment on the weekends?
Enjoy

“Unexpected Surprise!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 November 2009

I booked a room at the Firehouse Inn while in Rutherfordton for my 30th high school reunion. There was a blue grass festival (with Doc Watson!) in town on the same night and both hotels were booked. Did I mention this is a small town? The Innkeeper was away for the afternoon but left a welcome package with key for room #1. The room was just off the main living room and kitchen area but we never felt a lack of privacy. Our room was 5-star. It was huge with a large whirlpool tub, beautiful shower, separate dressing areas and a huge closet. It was apparent that the closet was once a safe but more on that later.

After my reunion festivities, we returned to the inn for the night and wanted a snack. Our Innkeeper left the most wonderful crumb cake on the kitchen counter for guests to enjoy. We also found the coffee maker for guests so we knew where to get our cup of coffee in the morning. Our welcome letter said that breakfast would be seated promptly at 8:30.

We woke up as is our normal routine, around 7:00. After getting dressed, my husband ventured to the kitchen to fetch coffee. He was gone for 20 minutes or so and I thought I should see what happened to him. I found him embroiled in conversation with the Innkeeper, David ,who was busy preparing our breakfast. You would have thought they were lifelong friends. That is how David made us all feel during our stay. We learned that our suite was formerly the office of the Police Chief and our closet was his evidence safe!

David served wonderful fruit, egg casserole, sausages, toast and juices for breakfast and even shared the recipe with us. We enjoyed getting to know the other guests at the breakfast table and hearing about the music festival that they all attended. David continued to captivate us with his colorful stories from all around the world. He was most recently the Butler's Trainer for 3 years at The Cloisters on Sea Island. He is a top notch professional.

The rates are more than reasonable and the property is beautiful. They have a total of 6 rooms and a lovely courtyard for guests to enjoy. I would highly recommend The Firehouse Inn. I am sorry we could only stay one night. I can promise that when my Mom's house is full again, we will be at the Firehouse!
