“Mist over the lake, ducks gliding on the lake, hot air balloon gliding over - beautiful setting.”

Cupid's Cottage was a top self contained B&B experience. 9/10

Cupid's Cottage set next to the dam/lake was excellent. $AU350 per night approximately. Outstanding cleanliness, beautiful decor, quality kitchen, good up to date TV, range of DVD's provided, suede sofa is comfortable, owners requested extensive feedback, provisions for the friendly ducks, a boat next to the lake if you wish to use it, excellent variety of provisions for breakfast and treats such as port and chocolates and a bottle of wine. Attention to detail with King sized comfortable pillowtop ensemble bed was so appreciated and a relaxing spa enhanced the experience. The seclusion of Cupid's cottage together with the lake and vineyard setting is desirable. It was peaceful and quiet and pretty. Wood combustion heater set with firewood and kindling ready to light and it really warms up the cottage quickly!

Most memorable experience was awaking to the view and seeing a low mist hanging over the lake, the ducks gently gliding on the water and a hot air balloon gently gliding over the lake before my eyes. Absolutely beautiful but I wasn't quick enough to get a photo.

The Barossa has many attractions so you can't be bored if you have a car however travellers without a car will be isolated and you may wish to stay in the town or organise tours and transport.

Recommendations for improvement would be a little jetty with railing on the lake to make it easier to get into the boat. As the spa is set deep into the floor a grab rail would enhance safety as its difficult for older travellers. In these days of mobile phones I did not miss communications with the outside world as I had my own mobile phone and laptop with satellite modem but satellite internet reception with Telstra/Bigpond is low at certain times of the day. A powerpoint near the dining table or a desk would be helpful for laptops and phones to recharge and for those of us that must keep in touch with business even when on holiday. A non stick frypan would be helpful as the delicious shaved bacon sticks to the stainless steel frypan. Hanging space for clothes is lacking.

I'd return to Cupids Cottage as it was of a very high standard and a great experience.

Room Tip: Cupids Cottage is ideal for two people.

“romantic hideaway in between the vines!”

highly recommendable! the cottages are full of little surprises, and are very well equipped. we were also so lucky to experience the grape harvesting and got a personal 'tour' while it was happening next to the cottage.

expect a personal service without it being in your face!

“Fantastic experience- relaxing, invigorating and therapeutic.”

This review of Stonewell Cottages, specifically Cupid's cottage (our third time here), represents our fifth stay at this fantastic location, and describes a five night stay on this occasion. My wife and I had our honeymoon there two decades ago and we return every five years to celebrate our anniversary, and it only gets better. We have seen this destination develop over time. Readers can decide either we are very well-informed through our experience or perhaps we are biased-clearly we believe the former. Other reviews have described what's on offer and we agree with comments highlighting, inter alia, outstanding cleanliness, attentive and responsive owners, provisions for the local inhabitants (ie friendly ducks and other birds) excellent provisions for paying customers and attention to detail with respect to comfortable bedding, relaxing spa and fixtures and fittings to make the utmost romantic experience. The seclusion of Cupid's cottage together with the lake and vineyard setting cannot be over emphasised-you really do feel the peace and quiet of the location, perhaps best described as being in one with nature. Perfect!! The Barossa has many attractions, but many folk will spend just as much time at Stonewell enjoying the experience. For us, it was difficult to think of any recommendations for improvement and no we didn't miss communications with the outside world as others have commented on. This cottage would be wonderful at any time of year.

“Gorgeous - perfect for a relaxing, romantic getaway”

Relaxing, romantic, secluded, idyllic are a few of the adjectives that spring to mind when describing Cupid's Cottage, which is part of the Stonewell Cottages property.

If you're deciding between The Louise and Stonewell Cottages - forget The Louise!

The cottage and location is even nicer than it appears on their website. The cottage looks out over a lake and is completely secluded - the other cottages on the property are not even visible from Cupid's. The location is very central for visiting vineyards/towns/restaurants in the Barossa.

Every need is catered for inside the cottage and there are some extra touches that make it really special. Full breakfast provisions are supplied - local eggs, bacon, tomatoes, bread, fruit, pancake mix, even home made chutney and jams. They even supply provisions for feeding the ducks that live on the lake outside! A complimentary bottle of wine and chocolates are also nice touches.

The cottage was spotless and clearly designed for total relaxation. There is a library of books and dvds for anyone looking for something to do beyond gazing out at the lake with a glass of wine in hand!

As difficult as it was to tear ourselves away from the cottage, we did quite a lot of exploring of the area.

Barossa Valley highlights:
- Barossa farmers market (on every Saturday morning)
- Vinters restaurant for lunch
- Torbreck, Rockford, and Hentley Farm wineries

Disappointments were:
- Maggie Beer's farm shop
- Appellation restaurant

We considered staying at The Louise and had a look around the resort when we sent to Appellation for dinner. Having seen it, I'm SO glad we chose Stonewell Cottages instead. We will definitely stay there again!

We stayed at Hideaway Cottage which is the closest cottage to the lake. Walk out of our door with bare feet and feed the duckies~~~
Everything's soooooooooooooooo romantic and relaxing to us who have been living in the city for 30 years!!
Loved every tiny thing the owner made in the room~~~
Yes!!My favorite so far around Adelaide!
