Cupid's Cottage was a top self contained B&B experience. 9/10
Cupid's Cottage set next to the dam/lake was excellent. $AU350 per night approximately. Outstanding cleanliness, beautiful decor, quality kitchen, good up to date TV, range of DVD's provided, suede sofa is comfortable, owners requested extensive feedback, provisions for the friendly ducks, a boat next to the lake if you wish to use it, excellent variety of provisions for breakfast and treats such as port and chocolates and a bottle of wine. Attention to detail with King sized comfortable pillowtop ensemble bed was so appreciated and a relaxing spa enhanced the experience. The seclusion of Cupid's cottage together with the lake and vineyard setting is desirable. It was peaceful and quiet and pretty. Wood combustion heater set with firewood and kindling ready to light and it really warms up the cottage quickly!
Most memorable experience was awaking to the view and seeing a low mist hanging over the lake, the ducks gently gliding on the water and a hot air balloon gently gliding over the lake before my eyes. Absolutely beautiful but I wasn't quick enough to get a photo.
The Barossa has many attractions so you can't be bored if you have a car however travellers without a car will be isolated and you may wish to stay in the town or organise tours and transport.
Recommendations for improvement would be a little jetty with railing on the lake to make it easier to get into the boat. As the spa is set deep into the floor a grab rail would enhance safety as its difficult for older travellers. In these days of mobile phones I did not miss communications with the outside world as I had my own mobile phone and laptop with satellite modem but satellite internet reception with Telstra/Bigpond is low at certain times of the day. A powerpoint near the dining table or a desk would be helpful for laptops and phones to recharge and for those of us that must keep in touch with business even when on holiday. A non stick frypan would be helpful as the delicious shaved bacon sticks to the stainless steel frypan. Hanging space for clothes is lacking.
I'd return to Cupids Cottage as it was of a very high standard and a great experience.
