“Very pleasant stay”

I felt that i had to leave a comment, after reading some negavity in some of the reviews on here to say that we had a LOVELY experience here! My partner and i stayed for 2 nights in the run up to Christmas and would recommend the place to anyone. The rooms were beautifuly clean, the staff were friendly and helpful and the food in the restaurant some of the best i have had in ages. In fact the whole place had a very nice atmosphere - please do take time for a walk around the gardens as they are wonderful. It isn't the most luxurious place in the region but it certainly is a nice motel in a nice part of the world for a very reasonable price.

“Doesnt live up to their own description”

We booked and paid for this nights accommodation and dinner a month or so before our trip. When we arrived we were soooo disappointed to see that the rooms are OLDER style motel rooms with a coat of paint and updated air conditioning with flat screen TV. The bed was a shocker and a single bed in the room but no lounge only an old table and two chairs. We couldnt even park in front of our unit because it would block the car in the room next to ours!!! In the room was a write up of the restaurant. We can only say that the chef had obviously left because the food and wait staff were very disappointing. Continental breakfast was very ordinary. The rose garden is being worked on. Could not recommend.

Room Tip: I dont think there are any good rooms here

“Nice overnight stay”

I was lucky to find good quality accomodation such as this and great service such as I received at Lyndoch Hill and at such short notice and very competitve rates. It's a pity I didn't get an opportunity to dine in the restaurant or walk the extensive gardens, but I will definitely be back to complete the experience.

The room was nice and clean with modern furnishings and fittings. The staff were all very helpful, flexible and accomodating with a good deal of empathy - Carol at reception made sure my stay worked for me, even before I arrived by organising an early check-in, which was much appreciated in my circumstances.

The only negative comment I have is that the swimming pool was a disappointment - too cold. But I guess that only a tea-totaller like me would be more interested in the swimming than what the Chateau has to offer! :)

Keep up the good work Lyndoch Hill!

Room Tip: The shrubbery immediately behind the motel rooms in the centre of the strip is great for privacy but...

“WE PROMISED WE WOULD RETURN”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

Were back! - or at least we were, I raved about you back in 2009 and I will do it again. Thank you, thank you, thank you. It took us a couple of years to save up to travel half way around the world to visit our special place...Lyndoch Hill and once again you never let us down, We even got to stay in the same room to bring back old memories. Mr and Mrs Creed (I think your names are Mike and Mandy) made us so welcome and the staff, including the waiters and waitresses make you feel like family. We didn't book full board because there is so much to do in and around the Barossa Valley and in Adelaide in General, that we could not commit ourselves but were always asked if and when we wanted to eat at mealtimes. Having said that, the food at the Retreat is exquisite - my favourite being the Pork with chillie Jam and Black Sticky rice. Your Pavalova with fresh fruit and Jersey Cream is exquisite and to die for. It is without a doubt, the only time we will afford ourselves a true Al a Carte meal. We can eat pie and chips when We are at home. Our room was immaculate - just like before and we have every intention of coming back again. We will forgo our yearly trips in Europe so we can have a proper holiday in Oz every couple of years and yes, we will be back in Lyndoch Hill before you know it. It's not like home from home, it's better!

Thank you again and we look forward to seeing you again real soon.

Lots of love Anne Starns

“Superb rooms, meals and service!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 January 2012

Absolutley brilliant place to escape to! Fantastic prices with great rooms. The service was personal, prompt and consistent. We ate at the restaurant also, and had a delicious meal teamed with Creed Wine a candlelit meal with soft jazz playing in the background. A definite re-visit for sure for those weekends we need to escape and enjoy peace and quiet.
The motel rooms were very clean, comfortable and had everything we needed to relax. Airconditioning, TV, balcony (AMAZING VIEW!!), couch, and a fridge! The cheese platters are a must with the delicious dried fruit, nuts, crackers and soft cheeses. Definitely order on booking! We had the pleasure of walking through the stunning gardens which have come so far since the new owners took over. if you need an escape with a reasonable price, a restaurant on site with world class ratings then definitely stay at Lyndoch Hill. Made our stressful week end relaxed and refreshed!
