The hotel is in a terrific location overlooking the bay and is right on top of main street. It has a nice restaurant and bar. The updated rooms are very nice, but the older rooms are below what you would expect for a hotel of this price. The older rooms lack basic amenities, and the shared balcony is very loud. One morning I was awakened by the guests next door at 5 am as they were on the balcony. At night, the noise from the street was about the same as having an open window.
The resto bar was crowded one night, so I thought I would sit at the bar for faster service. I sat right in front of the bartender for 45 minutes and was not even offered the opportunity to drink a beer. When I finally left in frustration, I saw the "manager" of the hotel sitting in his office watching a hockey game while his stafff was struggling to keep up with the workload.
This hotel also has safety issues. The first floor hallway is a long set of 10-12 rooms with a dead bolted dead end door. The second floor hallway door opens up to a 6 foot drop. If there is a fire, you better be able to jump.
Check in and check out is fine and the staff there has always been helpftul. Housekeeping is good, but they did skip my room on one night during the week.
