Having just returned from Lloret de Mar, Spain (oct 2011) I would fully recommend this holiday destination especially for the younger generation. In our early 20s we found loads to do, English people get in free to bars/clubs and get discounted drinks which is always a benefit (whether this was because it was out of season I don't know but it was v.handy), there are plenty of shops etc too. I would 100% recommend taking the bus to Blanes and the train from there to Barcelona as it is only 6.35 euros per person each way and Barcelona is an amazing city which you should visit. The journey takes 10min on the bus and 1hour 15 on the train.

The apartments...Las Mariposas apartments are in an ideal location as they are a short work from fenals beach and a 10-15 min walk from the main strip of nightlife/bus station etc. However, what I would say is remember you get what you pay for with the apartments. My partner and I paid a small amount for our 7 day holiday and the apartments reflected this as they were very basic. Although clean and having all the amenities that you may need from the apartment there were a few strange aspects....having to make your own bed, a mouldy shower curtain that if changed would make the bathroom 100% more appealing, one mirror for the entire apartment, one loo roll for an entire week, a few ants, getting dropped of down the hill from the apartments etc. Saying this I would 100% return to the apartments if I found a cheap deal again as we had an amazing holiday and the apartment was basic but served its purpose as somewhere to get your head down etc.

hi just to say that we enjoyed our stay here in june 2011, the staff are friendly and helpful, rooms basic and clean. not far from the bars / cafes /shops etc good location. were back again this october. lloret de mar a good place for young and the older person

My wife and I had stayed at these apartments 4 years ago so we decided to return. That was a mistake as the place has gone down hill. The bedding was stained and the mattress had black marks all over it. We were bit by bed bugs and had to buy insect spray in an attempt to solve the problem. The towels had not been washed properly we were glad that we had brought our own. We had to sweep the apartment ourselves as the place had not been cleaned for ages. We did complain but were ignored and we let it go as we did not want to cause an atmosphere as this would have spoilt our holiday.

read reviews before booking and some were poor others ok but we found the apartments to be clean a nice place to stay swimming pool area also nice bit of a steep hill and a few steps leading up to the apartments ok if your not to old. llorett was a nice place to visit took 15 minutes to walk there plenty to do and see.Fenels beach which was about 5-10 minutes walk away was lovely .bus services were just along from apartments and cost 1,50 euros to most places i would supermarket very close i would recommend the mariposas as a good place to stay very good value for money take no notice of the bad reviews will definetly be booking up again next year
