“Disappointment...”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 September 2010

Stayed there in September 2010 for 12 days. Honestly we expected more that we got. The hotel is old and shabby and in the lobby we felt terrible smell from the toilet all the time. Our room was normal (not small) but there was not a balcony! Have no idea what they think but people come there to have rest on the sea and beach and of course there are many wet clothes. But it was impossible to dry the linen. This is the first minus. The other one is food. Every time the same. We had potatoes, mushrooms, beans, 2 kinds of cheese only, 2 kids of sausage, baking and unripe fruits. If you are not used eating potatoes with muchrooms for breakfast this hotel is not for you. A few times they served fried and boiled eggs but if you come around 9-30 you can't catch them already. The staff was good. Only once before leaving we asked to count our breakfast as dinner we had before because we were leaving early in the morning and could not have it they said it was impossible and were almost rude. A few words about the sea. If you are not a perfect swimmer you should choose the other place. The sea is very deep here. You make only 2 steps and you are in the water with your head. And instead of sand there were small stones on the beach. In general I can say that we had a nice trip because we visited many interesting places but if I had a chance I would choose the other one hotel.

“Terrible restaurant staff”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 July 2010

We did not stay at the hotel, but visited their restaurant at two occations. The first time was for dinner. The food was about average but the staff acted in a distracted manner, like they couldn't care less. Not too remarkable though.

So, the next day we happened to end up there again for some coffee and ice cream in the afternoon. None of us got exactly what we ordered; my ice-coffee had a ball of vanilla ice cream in it but no ice - resulting in a luke-warm mixture when stirred. My fiancé's ice cream didn't contain the flavours advertised by the waitress. Our daughter's creation didn't even contain any ice cream, even though we double-checked this with the waitress while ordering. The menu consisted of numbered pictures of the food, and when ordering the waitress repeated the order correctly. When complaining directly after the orders arrived, the waitress just came up with very lame excuses and blamed us for ordering the wrong thing. In the end, I offered to pay all but half of our daughter's "ice cream", but the offer was turned down and the waitress brought along her manager. He started to tell me in a loud voice and with an aggressive tone that we got what we ordered. Period. He didn't even accept that there had been a misunderstanding between us and the waitress (sic!), it was all our fault. I remained calm and offered him a choice - either we paid half of the "ice cream" and walked away reasonably satisified, or we paid full price and promised to file a complaint. He chose the latter option.

The staff could have handled this situation in a sooo much smoother fashion. They could have just brought us a ball of ice cream on a plate as soon as they heard of the problem, and we would have been very happy. They could even have added a small charge for it to the bill and we would have paid it. Or they could have accepted a price reduction, or at least accepted some little bit of responsibility for the obvious misunderstanding.

The Marsol version of "the customer is always right" seems to be "we are infallible, in case of disagreements the customer must be stupid or out to fool us". Language difficulties might have added to the problem, but still, I have never in my life been treated with such unprofessionality or rudeness in any service business.

During our first visit the restaurant was about 3/4 full, and during the second only two tables were occupied and the staff didn't appear to have overly much to do.

The Marsol restaurant looks cozy and tempting when passing by, but watch out - the neighbouring restuaurants are much better, with very friendly staff.

“Bad.”

I do not understand why I keep seeing these great reviews on this Hotel. We went here in December for a trip and nothing we experienced even approached these rave reviews on here! The rooms were dirty and smelled awful. We had to ask the person at the front desk to give us a new room, and that one smelled even worse. There was a large hole on the second floor that was open to the outside and bags of concrete lying all over the place. There was no real "parking." This place would not approach 2 stars in the USA, not sure why it gets a 4 star rating in Tela..... The only good thing was that the manager gave us our money back and the receptionist was extremely helpful. We ended up staying at another hotel.

“Good hotel, great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 December 2009

Stayed here for 2 nights between Christmas and New Year. We had seaview rooms with spectacular views, balcony and massive bed! It is on the prom and very close to the narrow shopping streets. The staff were all pleasant and reception staff were excellent. The food for breakfast and dinner had a good choice and quality, tho' wasn't very hot. There is an indoor pool on the top floor, with a nice warm environment and loungers for chilling out. The hotel is stylishly decorated and the foyer looked lovely with lots of pointsettias, a Christmas tree and other Christmas decorations, The bedrooms were warm, which in our experience isn't always the case in Spanish hotels this time of year. Even the children thought it was good which is praise indeed!

“The hotel for hear the night rhythm of Lloret”

Beeing stayed in Marsol hotel twice in juny 2008 and july 2009 for 3
days with my wife we found it freindly and comfortable to spend there
not more 3 or 4 days. Located right in the center Llotet de Mar it
gives you possibility to rich the seaside in 1 minute, the walking
street in 1 min and hear the night rhythm of Lloret. If you want to
find only silence than this hotel definetly is not for you. If you
want to have good view in Standart non- sea view room I recomend to
ask friendly receptionist the rooms upper 5 floor on the left hotel's
side, so you can see charming town view. The rooms is good furnitured
with LCD-TV, but there is only one thing wrong - air consitioneer is
not effective. Finnaly I recomend you insist to try fresh fruit juice
in the beach bar right in the opposite of Marsol.
